Parker had once noted that there were three main hurdles to divorce.

Family approval, asset division, and untangling corporate partnerships.

Maloney's parents adored Seraphina. They had always treated her like a future daughter-in-law, so step one was a non-issue.

As for the money, Nora didn't seem greedy, but Seraphina was fully prepared to cut her a fat check to make her go away.

The only real roadblock was step three.

Seraphina had her assistant audit the joint ventures between Jameson Group and The Dodge Corporation. The list was extensive.

The older contracts couldn't be broken.

But Maloney had recently brought Diana on board for a massive government-backed tech project in The Tech District.

The more intertwined they became, the harder the divorce would be.

Seraphina decided it was time to test Diana's loyalty.

Ideally, she could convince Diana to withdraw from Maloney's tech deal in exchange for two lucrative contracts with Sinclair Group.

It was a win-win.

Armed with her pitch, Seraphina confidently strutted into the Dodge headquarters for her scheduled meeting.

Only to be told that Diana was stuck in a conference.

"I had a scheduled appointment!" Seraphina snapped.

Diana's assistant maintained a flawless corporate smile. "I apologize, Ms. Sinclair. Ms. Dodge's previous meeting is running over. Please have a seat in the lobby."

Furious but unwilling to retreat empty-handed, Seraphina crossed her arms.

Flaunting her new VP title, she hurled a few choice threats about pulling Sinclair capital.

Diana sat stone-faced through the entire presentation, giving absolutely nothing away.

When Seraphina finally stopped talking, Diana laced her fingers together. "So, you want me to terminate my partnership with Mr. Jameson and pivot to Sinclair Group?"

"Exactly." Seraphina lifted her chin haughtily. "The two projects I just outlined are Sinclair's crown jewels for the fiscal year. You drop his deal, you get both of mine. You'd be stupid to say no."

Diana's expression didn't change. "And why would I want to do that?"

Seraphina leaned in, dropping her voice. "Because Nora and Maloney are getting a divorce. The Dodge Corporation needs to untether itself from him before the fallout."

For the first time, a crack appeared in Diana's iron composure.

She frowned. "Excuse me?"

Leaning back triumphantly, Seraphina smiled. "The Sinclairs and Jamesons have history. I was always meant to be his wife. Nora was just a temporary distraction. Eventually, your family will be cut out anyway. If you withdraw now, I'll make sure you're generously compensated."
