Seraphina looked at Maloney with eyes full of hope.
Maloney patiently listened to Seraphina finish her long-winded speech.
He didn't answer.
Slowly turning his head, he looked over at Sebastian, who was standing to the side.
Sebastian had been listening the whole time without interrupting or stopping her, allowing Seraphina to continue pestering Maloney.
Maloney said coldly, "You have one day."
Sebastian's expression shifted slightly.
He had indeed refrained from stopping her on purpose.
If possible, he had hoped there was still room for negotiation.
Maloney offered absolutely no leeway.
As soon as he finished speaking, he turned to leave.
"Maloney!" Seraphina panicked, trying to grab his hand. "Don't go!"
This time, Sebastian stepped forward and stopped her.
"Seraphina," Sebastian said, gripping her arm firmly. "Don't."
Seraphina watched helplessly as Maloney disappeared down the end of the hallway.
A surge of fury rushed to her head, and she forcefully wrenched her arm out of Sebastian's grasp. "This is all your fault!"
"It's all your fault, Sebastian, it's all your fault!"
Seraphina pointed her index finger at Sebastian, her words laced with venom. "If you hadn't been seduced by Bella Monroe, your engagement to Nora wouldn't have been canceled, Nora wouldn't have married Maloney, and Maloney and I wouldn't have ended up like this!"
"It's all your fault!"
"Are you blind? What did you even see in Bella?!"
"Don't you know the things she did when we were kids? She's so selfish, so venomous! How could she even compare to Nora?"
"You just hated people bringing up the childhood engagement, didn't you? You're just rebellious! Whatever people want you to do, you refuse on principle. You'd rather have that venomous Bella than the fiancée Alistair picked out for you, Nora!"
"Are you happy now? Sebastian! You're a total coward!"
After screaming at Sebastian, Seraphina turned and ran.
She couldn't get over it!
She couldn't, she couldn't, she couldn't!
Seraphina argued with her parents all night long.
They refused to budge.
Later, when Sebastian came home, he actually suggested sending Seraphina abroad.
She completely lost her mind.
She ran away from home in the middle of the night.
At midnight, Seraphina texted all her group chats: [Anyone want to come out and drink?]
Right at that moment, Parker Quincy—who was currently at a loss, having been beaten for saying the wrong thing, intensely lectured by his parents, terrified to go home, yet unwilling to bow his head to his wife—saw Seraphina's message.
The two hit it off instantly.
[Let's drink!]
