"Cass?"
Nora waved a hand gently in front of Cassidy's face. "Are you okay?"
Cassidy blinked, snapping out of her daze.
"Parker just video-called me."
"And?"
"He showed me Maddie."
"How is she doing?"
"Recovering well." Cassidy frowned slightly. "That's not the issue."
Nora sat down on the edge of the bed. "Did he say something?"
"He didn't really say anything." Cassidy paused before adding, "It's just... while I was looking at Maddie, a thought suddenly popped into my head."
"What thought?"
"I thought, since Parker loves Maddie so much, maybe I shouldn't get a divorce. Maybe I should give Maddie a complete family."
Nora was taken aback.
Cassidy continued, "The whole reason I had Maddie in the first place was to secure my own future. Isn't that unfair to her? She's so little, she doesn't understand anything, yet she has to face coming from a broken home."
"Am I being too selfish? I mean, I could survive without getting a divorce. At the very least, in front of Maddie, Parker and I could play the part of a loving couple. I could give her a complete family."
