Cassidy shook her head frantically. "No, no, no, absolutely not."
"You are missing the forest for the trees," she argued. "You didn't investigate Bella behind your husband's back to sabotage him, or because you don't trust him. And you certainly aren't trying to fight Bella yourself."
"You just hate being treated like a clueless child. You're demanding transparency. When Maloney was practically begging for forgiveness, you should have milked him for every drop of intel."
"He definitely wasn't begging," Nora muttered.
"Close enough."
Nora rolled her eyes.
"You're still not getting it." Cassidy gave her a pointed look. "Your husband is hiding massive secrets. That is an indisputable fact."
"So, treat him like Seraphina. He has resources, but he has an agenda. Fundamentally, there is zero difference between them."
Nora inhaled sharply, ready to argue that there was a massive difference.
Cassidy held up a hand. "Let me finish."
"Seraphina is a treacherous, two-faced snake. When she needs you, you're her best friend. The second you lose value, you're roadkill."
"She's a pure opportunist. To beat someone like that, you have to decode their three-step playbook."
Cassidy held up three fingers, lowering her index finger first. "Step one: Seduction."
"She overwhelms you with charm to bridge the gap. No matter your history, she plays the saint or the victim, weaponizing your own empathy to dismantle your defenses."
"Step two: Extraction." She lowered her middle finger. "Seraphina isn't just emotionally manipulative; she's a master at identifying your exact pressure points."
"She doesn't demand favors. She orchestrates things so you gladly hand them over."
