Nora was tightly gripping a matcha frappuccino she had just bought from a chain coffee shop.
She took a massive gulp.
The icy liquid rushed down her throat and settled heavily in her stomach.
The sharp chill, combined with the intense sweetness, helped clear the fog in her brain.
"Do you have any more questions for Seraphina?"
The question came out of nowhere.
Cassidy looked at her, confused. "Not right now."
She quickly added, "Why? Did something happen?"
"If you don't," Nora paused, "I'm going to block her."
"Did she start trouble with you again?" Cassidy pressed.
"I wouldn't exactly call it trouble." Nora pressed her index fingers against her temples.
Her fingertips, still chilled from holding the iced drink, helped soothe the throbbing heat of her anxiety.
Nora lowered her voice. "She shook my resolve."
Cassidy stared at her.
She blinked slowly. "Do you even know what that means?"
"Of course I do."
"Then why are you saying it like that?"
"What's wrong with how I said it?"
"You sound like you've been seduced by her or something."
Nora gave her a look of utter disbelief. "Do *you* know what it means?"
"Doesn't it mean someone messed with your head because you're into them?"
"You spend way too much time scrolling through internet slang."
Their brief, nonsensical bickering actually managed to ease the tight coil of anxiety sitting in Nora's chest.
"What I meant was, she totally messed with my head and completely derailed my thoughts."
Cassidy leaned in, her curiosity piqued. "What exactly did she say to you?"
