There had been nothing unusual.
Both Jasmine and Cassidy were going about their daily lives as normal, with nothing out of the ordinary happening.
He must have overlooked some crucial detail...
Just then, having hidden under the covers for too long, Nora ran out of air. She popped her head out with a dramatic gasp.
Before she could even exhale, her eyes locked with Maloney's intense, searching gaze.
Nora froze.
Guiltily, she turned her head away.
Maloney caught her chin gently, forcing her to look back at him.
"What are you doing?" Nora mumbled defensively.
His voice was dangerously low. "Is there anything you want to tell me?"
"No."
"Are you sure?"
"I'm sure."
Nora's eyes darted everywhere—up, down, left, right—anywhere but at Maloney.
He pressed a thumb gently against her eyelid. "Look at me."
Nora blinked hard. "Why?"
"Look me in the eyes when you answer me."
His gaze was entirely too predatory and deep.
Making a split-second decision, Nora lunged forward and pressed her lips to his.
"Kiss me, darling."
Maloney was speechless.
With just a few words, she completely shattered his composure.
All his suspicions melted into a puddle of affection.
Whatever.
Let her play whatever little games she wanted.
He would let her have her fun.
