Today was Saturday.
As a government official, it was highly unlikely David would be at his office.
But Diana was definitely at the company.
Diana was a relentless workaholic, grinding three hundred and sixty-five days a year without a single day off.
However, The Dodge Corporation operated on a standard weekend-off schedule.
On Saturdays, the only people around were employees working overtime or on duty. The ground-level parking lot outside the corporate building looked exceptionally desolate.
Nora parked her car in the shade of a tree near the edge of the lot.
If she tried to book a normal appointment, she'd never get to see Diana. Even if it was urgent, Diana would force Nora to schedule it a week in advance.
But there was a loophole.
And that was to act first and ask forgiveness later. Ambush Diana while she was eating and force her to listen.
Diana would be annoyed, but she wouldn't turn her away.
Nora had pulled this stunt last year.
Afterward, she was strictly forbidden from showing up unannounced ever again.
She had agreed to the rule.
And yet, here she was.
Nora had her excuses locked and loaded.
When she saw Diana, she would say Maloney had mentioned David was up to no good, and out of concern for the family, she had come to dig for answers.
Even if Diana relayed that straight to Maloney, there wouldn't be a single flaw in her story.
At 11:40 AM, Nora opened her car door and began the slow walk toward the corporate building.
She had parked far away and had to cross half the lot. She was walking straight ahead when, just as she rounded a corner, she spotted a group of people walking out the front doors of the building.
Nora froze in her tracks.
She instantly backpedaled, practically sprinting back to her car.
She dug through her center console and pulled out a pair of compact binoculars.
Pressing the lenses against the car window, she aimed them straight at the building's entrance.
Nora saw Bella Monroe.
The naked eye couldn't compete with binoculars. Back at the corner, Nora genuinely thought she was seeing things.
But it was really Bella.
Bella and Vivian Cole were walking down the steps, arm in arm.
They were flanked by a few people who looked like assistants or bodyguards.
