Right now, all Maloney wanted was to devour her whole.
He couldn't hold back anymore.
He would have her first.
Whatever was on the floor could wait until he was finished.
But Nora was incredibly persistent, practically forcing him to look down.
He glanced down.
There on the floor was a...
Maloney turned his head to look at the bookshelf.
Oh, his treasured hair clip had been smashed to pieces.
It didn't matter.
He only kept it around so he could look at it and think of her.
Now that he actually had the woman in his arms, what did he need a plastic clip for?
Besides, she was the one who broke it.
He could definitely use this to leverage some other sweet benefits from her later.
The hair clip had died an honorable death.
He casually kicked the shattered remains of the clip aside.
Nora stared at him in disbelief.
"Why did you just kick my clip?" she demanded.
Look at that temper.
One second she was terrified like a kid who broke a vase.
The next, she was right back to interrogating him.
He kissed the corner of her mouth. "Nora, that was mine."
She choked on her words for a moment before weakly arguing, "It was originally mine."
"How can you prove that?" he asked.
She fell silent.
"Even if it used to be yours," he continued smoothly, "it was in my possession, which makes it mine. Therefore, you broke my property."
He was basically admitting it!
She straightened up, grabbing a handful of his shirt. "How did you end up with it?"
"The point is that you broke my things, sweetheart."
"Can't you just answer my question first?"
"No."
"Then what do you want?"
