Maloney simply said, "Let's go home."
Nora shadowed him closely as they made their way to the parking lot.
She asked softly, "How are you planning to deal with Yates?"
"I'll have Leo pressure the Quigley family into disowning him," Maloney replied.
Nora gasped. "Really?"
Maloney casually pulled the car keys from his pocket. With a press of his thumb, the sharp, distinctive LED headlights of the Koenigsegg flared to life, bathing both him and Nora in a brilliant glow.
He lowered his gaze to her and asked quietly, "What is it?"
Nora squinted against the sudden brightness. "You're going to ask Leo for a favor?"
"Is that a problem?"
"...No problem."
Maloney turned and got into the driver's seat.
Nora quietly slipped into the passenger side.
She didn't say another word.
Maloney was still mad.
And he seemed *really* mad.
Better not poke the bear.
Once home, Nora soaked in a hot bath to wash away the day's exhaustion. Wrapped in her bathrobe, she curled her legs up on the bedroom sofa, resting her arms on a plush cushion. She scrolled through her phone, replying to the group chat.
Cassidy had sent a photo of Parker handcuffed to a bench by one wrist.
*"Got drunk, lost his mind, and beat up an executive from a supplier we've worked with for eight years. Minor injuries. The guy called the cops, Parker refused to cooperate, and then assaulted an officer."*
*"Hahaha, absolutely incredible."*
Nora replied: *"Minor injuries won't get him criminal charges, but assaulting an officer could get him up to three years."*
Cassidy: *"It's fine, they reached a settlement. They bailed him out."*
*"My kid is not having a dad with a criminal record."*
*"Paid out over thirty thousand dollars. My mother-in-law had to come down and pay it herself. My father-in-law dragged him home and grounded him."*
*"Hahaha, I'm so happy. I finally get to breathe for a while."*
Nora: *"..."*
Cassidy seemed like she was losing her mind a little.
Cassidy asked the group: *"Did anything go wrong on your end after I left?"*
