The Colonel’s Claim: After the Divorce novel Chapter 8

"Really?"

"Yeah. Your mother loves you too much. She wouldn't bear to ignore you."

Stella's face lit up instantly. He was right—her mom loved her so much, she would never let her feel wronged!

Her mood shifted as quickly as the wind.

Thinking about having dinner with Scarlett's family, she jumped up, grabbed Dominic's hand, and urged excitedly, "Dad, let's go!"

"Alright."

The father and daughter left the floor, taking the elevator down to the lobby.

A few minutes later, Scarlett, her mother Penelope Pace, and her grandmother Martha arrived downstairs.

Stella practically skipped over and grabbed Scarlett's hand.

Dominic considerately opened the car doors for them.

This picture-perfect, joyous family reunion was witnessed entirely by Clara, who stood by the upstairs window, her fingers slowly crushing the edge of the curtain.

"Clara, what are you looking at? It's time to eat."

Sarah walked over to call her.

Clara snapped back to reality. Terrified her mother would see and get upset, she quickly spun around, searching for a distraction.

But looking at her mother's half-gray hair and comparing it to the glamorous, aristocratic elegance of Scarlett and Penelope,

She suddenly couldn't utter a single word.

Penelope had built her empire by stepping on Sarah's throat. The heartless woman had stolen Sarah's architectural designs, won first place in a major competition, and secured a top designer spot at Zenith Architecture. Today, she was the ultimate boss of the entire conglomerate.

After clawing her way to the top, Penelope had continuously dragged Sarah's name through the mud.

Because of her, Sarah had spent her entire life as the subject of vicious gossip. Before she even turned thirty, half her hair had gone white, and she had survived multiple suicide attempts.

And now, Penelope's daughter was stealing what belonged to Clara!

Losing her marriage was one thing.

She didn't even want to psychoanalyze how Dominic could know all of this twisted history and still choose to be with Scarlett—pampering her, loving her, and helping her bully his own wife.

But her career and her child?!

Why couldn't Scarlett just leave her alone? Why did she have to steal her hard-earned professional opportunity?
