The Coldest Man in the Room Melted Only for Me novel Chapter 62

Then who exactly was the "new" Manager Walsh that had been calling Pierce at all hours of the night?

A sickening wave of panic washed over her. Unable to stomach another word, she hurried down the hall and ducked into Pierce's old bedroom.

A few minutes later, Pierce opened the door. "We're leaving."

Riley looked up at the stoic man standing in the doorway, his exact words echoing mockingly in her skull.

'I won't be as reckless as I was before.'

Seraphina had drugged her, nearly orchestrating her sexual assault.

If Pierce hadn't sent Seraphina out of the country, Riley would have burned her life down to ensure she went to prison.

Pierce had been the one to convince her that the Suttons were too powerful, that the cameras had been wiped, and that without hard evidence, she couldn't touch Seraphina legally.

That was the only reason she had agreed to let him handle it quietly.

She had always believed he shared her fury over the incident. She never imagined for a second that he regretted saving her.

Pierce raised an eyebrow when she didn't move. "What is it?"

This wasn't the place to confront him.

"Nothing," she muttered, grabbing Alora and walking toward the door.

They left the estate in silence.

The second they walked through the front door of their villa, Riley handed the baby to Mrs. Gable and turned to her husband. "We need to talk."

Pierce mentally smirked. So she was finally ready to apologize?

His friends had been entirely right. Give a woman the cold shoulder, and she'll come running back.

He nodded magnanimously. "Alright."

Riley walked over and took a seat on the couch.

Pierce elegantly sat in the armchair opposite her.

She had just opened her mouth when his phone buzzed.

Because of the distance, Riley couldn't see the caller ID. She watched his expression tighten as he listened before he abruptly said, "I'll be right there."
