"Why would I stay here?" Pierce laced his fingers through hers and led her out the door.

Riley glanced over her shoulder and caught Seraphina glaring daggers at her. Seraphina clearly hadn't expected her to look back and froze, but Riley didn't care to see the rest of her reaction. She simply turned forward and walked out with her husband.

Seraphina gripped the bedsheets so hard her knuckles turned white, forcefully resisting the urge to smash every object in the room.

She was in the Landon family's private hospital; she had to keep it together.

But her eyes were filled with venom, looking as though she was ready to tear someone apart.

She had no idea Riley could be so unnervingly calm.

After walking in on that compromising scene in the lounge, Riley had still managed to smoothly lure him away without breaking a sweat.

Her meticulously planned trap had been dismantled without an ounce of effort.

It took a long time for the raging inferno in Seraphina's chest to finally cool.

A vicious smirk curled on her lips. "You think this is over, Riley? Let's see if you're still playing the cool wife tomorrow."

The next day.

Riley was on the living room sofa, feeding Alora her bottle, when her phone lit up on the coffee table with Quinn's name.

"I can finish her feeding," Mrs. Gable offered from nearby.

Riley handed the baby over and picked up the call, instantly met with Quinn's anxious voice. "Your husband is at the police station."

Riley shot up from the sofa. "What happened?"

"He apparently got into a brawl with Julian Sinclair. Legal just notified me, and I'm heading to the precinct right now."

A brawl?

Pierce had always been extremely composed, especially since taking over the company. He rarely let his emotions show, let alone resorted to physical violence.

Furthermore, she knew Julian was part of Pierce's inner circle, and the Sinclair family was incredibly powerful in Riverport. What could have sparked a fight between them?

The fact that lawyers were already involved meant it wasn't a minor scuffle.
