Pierce stayed with Riley and their daughter at the postnatal center for two days before returning to work at the office.

Riley's days were incredibly fulfilling. She had regular health checks, postpartum recovery sessions, physical therapy, and lessons on newborn care. On top of that, she still had to read medical books to prepare for her chief physician exam.

She had wanted to breastfeed, but due to her massive hemorrhage during delivery, she had lost too much blood and her body was severely depleted. The nurses advised formula feeding, warning that she would permanently wreck her health if she drained herself further.

Quinn still made it a point to check in every single day. One afternoon, while joining Riley for lunch, she casually mentioned, "Did you see the online rumors about your husband?"

Given Pierce's status and looks, he was top-tier in Riverport. It wasn't unusual for women to throw themselves at him. Rumors like this popped up occasionally, but Pierce had always handled them cleanly.

So Riley didn't take it to heart. She took a sip of chicken soup before asking, "Who's the latest moth to the flame?"

"This time feels different. It's not some college intern or an assistant, and nobody knows who she is. The internet is saying she's his true love, which is why he's keeping her so well hidden."

Seeing the serious look in Quinn's eyes, Riley asked, "Are you sure it's not just baseless gossip?"

"I don't know, but I think you should keep an eye on this."

"Do you honestly think Pierce would cheat?"

Quinn rested her chin in her hand, pondering for a few seconds before pointing out the facts. "Pregnancy and postpartum are the highest-risk periods for men to cheat. Besides, all your attention is on the baby right now, and whenever I come over, I hardly ever see him."

Riley brushed it off nonchalantly. "He spent a lot of time with me at the hospital, so work piled up. He really is just busy."

"Busy enough to not have time for his wife and kid?"
