The Coldest Man in the Room Melted Only for Me novel Chapter 30

Fighting?

Riley despised that word.

But she didn't bother correcting her. Elaine would only accuse her of being a pedantic snob with a useless education anyway.

She just nodded. "I know."

At noon, Quinn Logan arrived. She sat on the edge of the bed and grabbed Riley's hand. "You were in the operating room for over two hours. A C-section usually takes an hour at most. You scared the life out of me."

Tears streamed down her face as she spoke.

A warm wave washed over Riley's heart, and her own eyes turned red. She reached out to wipe away Quinn's tears.

"Don't move," Quinn sniffled, quickly wiping her tears away herself.

Riley smiled. "Okay, I won't move."

"How can you still smile?"

Riley's eyes were filled with tears, but her smile was genuine. "If I don't smile, should I cry?"

Quinn flicked a stray tear from her own eye. "Don't ever have another baby. It's too dangerous."

Riley laughed through her tears. "Okay."

Caring about her safety instead of her status—that was what true concern looked like.

"You can't cry while you're recovering," Quinn said, wiping Riley's tears for her. "Tell me what happened."

Riley never hid anything from Quinn, so she recounted everything exactly as it happened.

Quinn was absolutely furious. She marched straight out to the living room and tore into Pierce. When she returned, she asked Riley, "What are your plans?"

Since Riley had no intention of forgiving him anytime soon, her anger still burned brightly.

"Do you want a divorce?"

Riley was stunned. Divorce?

She had never even considered it.
