Speechless, Riley deleted the half-typed message.

This person had never once asked how to get better. It was as if she was purely looking for someone to dump her thoughts on, logging off the second she finished venting.

Had she never intended to seek treatment, simply using Riley as an emotional dumping ground?

It made sense. After all, she was the other woman. She couldn't exactly brag about this to anyone else, but keeping it bottled up was suffocating. Using an anonymous psychologist as an emotional outlet was definitely an effective method.

However, simply venting wouldn't solve the core issue.

The next time she encountered this patient, she absolutely had to urge her to seek proper treatment. If her psychological issues were ignored any longer, they would only get worse.

Seeing no other patients in the queue, Riley got up to grab her charging phone, only to see a message from Miles Miller sent two minutes ago.

[I'm back. Are you free this afternoon? We can go over the research paper together.]

Miles and Riley had graduated under the same doctoral advisor. He was her senior, excelling in research and academic writing, though his clinical skills were average—the exact opposite of Riley.

She wanted to be promoted to a senior attending physician, and having publications in prestigious journals was a strict requirement. So she had texted Miles a few days ago asking for his help.

He had been out of town for an academic seminar and promised to contact her when he got back to Riverport.

Riley immediately replied: [I'm free. Shall I head over to your hospital around 2 PM?]

[Sounds good.]

After eating lunch, Riley took a short nap, then had Mr. Carter drive her out.

She arrived precisely on time at Aegis Center.

It was a highly renowned private clinic in Riverport. Riley knew Miles worked there, but this was her first time visiting.

Supporting her belly, she walked into the lobby, feeling more like she had stepped into a high-end luxury hotel. There were rows of small round tables, each paired with four plush armchairs, stocked with bottled water and snacks.

It was clearly a reception area for patients and their families.

The lobby was also decorated with fresh flowers, fruit displays, and premium beverages...
