The Coldest Man in the Room Melted Only for Me novel Chapter 113

"If you didn't want a divorce, you should have cleaned up your own mess. Now she has hard evidence against you. If you refuse to sign and this blows up, the scandal of your infidelity will crash our stock. How do you plan to handle the fallout?"

"It won't come to that. We've been together for three years; she can't just erase those feelings overnight. She's just furious right now. Once she cools down, she'll forgive me."

"I highly doubt that."

"Grandpa, you don't know her. She values family above everything else. Her adoptive parents heavily favored boys and treated her terribly, yet she still honored them for raising her and always looked after them. She grew up an orphan. She always told me her greatest dream in life was to have a family of her own. Not only did I give her a family, but we have Lory now. She will never easily let this family fall apart."

As Pierce spoke, his panic began to subside. He had let his anxiety get the better of him downstairs. Thinking it through logically, there was no way Riley would genuinely leave him. Even if she was demanding it now, he knew exactly how to make her back down.

"Regardless, you're going to sign this to pacify her and keep her from escalating the situation. If she hasn't changed her mind in a month, you will go through with the divorce." Arthur's tone left no room for argument.

Pierce didn't respond.

His silence was a clear refusal.

Seeing Pierce's stubbornness, Arthur's fury flared up again. His chest heaved violently. "You were the one who practically begged to marry her! You were the one who cheated! And now you're the one refusing to divorce! What exactly do you want?"

The blood rushed to Arthur's head, and a heavy tightness seized his chest. He swayed unsteadily, on the verge of collapsing.

Pierce quickly grabbed him and eased him into a chair. He yanked open a drawer, grabbed Arthur's medication, shook out a pill, poured a glass of water from the side table, and helped the old man swallow it.

It took a few agonizing minutes for Arthur's ragged breathing to smooth out. When he finally spoke again, his voice was weak. "Are you going to sign it or not?"

Pierce stared at the graying hair at Arthur's temples for two seconds before giving a tight nod. "I'll sign it."

It was merely a stalling tactic. There was absolutely no way he was going to let this divorce happen.

But since Riley was currently blinded by rage, he couldn't fight her head-on. He had an entire month to work with. He would make sure she changed her mind.
