The CEO’s Regret: His Lost Wife’s Secret Twins
Chapter 52
OLIVIA
David’s face went through several expressions before settling on something that might have been fear. Good. He should be scared.
“I wasn’t blaming Aria,” he backpedaled quickly. “Just hoping she’d be less impulsive next time.”
59
“Next time?” I raised an eyebrow. “You planning on giving her more reasons to be suspicious?”
“No! Never!” David raised his hand as if taking an oath. “I swear on our baby’s life. No more misunderstandings. If I screw up again, may I
die a horrible death and leave our child fatherless.”
Dramatic much? But I’d take it.
“Good.” I tugged Aria’s hand. “We’re leaving. Enjoy your legal consultation or whatever this is.”
David called after us, all concern and care. “Olivia, remember to eat something. And rest when you get home. Don’t stress yourself-
I waved him off without looking back. My gut was screaming that this whole thing stank, but without proof, I had to play along. For now.
The hallway felt endless as we walked away. None of them were telling the truth. I knew it in my bones. But knowing and proving were
two different things.
“Tomorrow, I take back my company,” I muttered to Aria.
She squeezed my hand, understanding perfectly. The game wasn’t over. We’d just changed the rules.
I stabbed the elevator button with more force than necessary.
DAVID
The door clicked shut. I counted to three before dropping my act. “They totally bought it.”
“You nearly screwed everything up,” Alex said. “When Olivia mentioned checking the company books, I almost had a heart attack.
“What was I supposed to do?” I shot back. “Tackle her to the ground? She’s pregnant. If I tried stopping her, red flags would go up
everywhere.
Sarah stood up from the desk, closing her laptop with a sharp snap. “This is getting too risky. I signed up to forge some documents, not play witness in your soap opera.”
“Relax,” I said, pouring myself a whiskey from the minibar. “You got paid well enough to play your part.

“Not well enough for this,’ she muttered, grabbing her bag. If this blows up, I’m the one facing criminal charges for falsifying legal
records. You promised me this would be simple.”
Alex pulled out his wallet and counted out several hundred-dollar bills. “Here’s a bonus for today’s performance. You were perfect.
Sarah snatched the money, her expression still sour. “This is the last time. I mean it. Next time you need a fake assistant, find someone
else.”
“There won’t be a next time,” I assured her. “Once we have full control of the company, we’re home free.”
She shook her head and headed for the door. “You people are insane. I’m out of here before your wife comes back with the cops.
The door slammed behind her.
Bella kicked the coffee table. “This is such crap, David! We’ve been working this angle for months, and now she’s heading back to the
office?”
I grabbed a whiskey from the minibar-top shelf stuff I couldn’t dream of affording before I hooked up with the Redwood fortune. “Take a
breath. She won’t find the trail yet.”
“She better not, Alex said, glancing at his phone. “I had to hire Sarah on short notice and pay her three grand just to sit here for two
hours. That woman drives a hard bargain.”
I smirked. “Worth every penny. Having a witness made the whole story bulletproof.”
“Let’s not forget I’m the one doctoring company records and shifting shares around,” Alex reminded me. “If this blows up, I’m looking at
disbarment and jail time.”
“We’re all taking risks,” I said, swirling my drink. “Remember how I had to hustle my way into those fancy charity events? Pretending to be some big donor instead of just a broke firefighter with maxed-out credit cards?”
Alex snorted. “Playing the hero card was your smartest move. Leveraging that apartment fire rescue.”
‘Worked like a charm,’ I downed my drink.
Bella sprawled across the bed. “What about my sacrifice? I’m pregnant with your kid while playing side piece. Meanwhile, Miss Perfect gets
the mansion, the money, and the diamond ring.”
“That was always the plan, I reminded her. “I married into the Redwood empire for a reason. You knew the score.”
“Doesn’t make it suck any less, she muttered. “My baby gets nothing while hers becomes heir to the Redwood millions.”
“Not for long,” I said, pouring another shot. “Once I control Redwood Company, we’re set for life. No more living paycheck to paycheck. No
more kissing ass for overtime. I’ll be the one calling shots.”

》6,
“If everything doesn’t blow up first, Alex warned. ‘Someone is asking questions about the paperwork. Says we’re moving too much money
too fast.
I walked to the window, watching Olivia and Aria climb into a town car below. “Her parents were supposed to keep her on lockdown. They
hover over everything else she does.”
“Yeah, well, you didn’t count on that meddling bitch Aria showing up, Bella spat.
My jaw tightened. “Friggin’ busybody. Always sticking her nose where it doesn’t belong. No wonder Blake still has the hots for Emma after
three years. Aria’s just the consolation prize.
Alex shifted uncomfortably. “Should we be worried about Aria digging deeper?”
“She’s nobody,” I dismissed. “Just a trophy wife playing Nancy Drew. Probably bored with her cushy Morgan lifestyle.”
*She seemed pretty determined to me,” Alex said. “And resourceful. The way she tracked you down here…”
“Dumb luck,” I insisted. “Besides, it’s my word against hers. I’m the devoted husband, the hero firefighter who saved Olivia. People eat that
stuff up.
Bella’s eyes narrowed. “Pregnant women have accidents all the time. Dizzy spells, falls, medication mix-ups… so many possibilities.”
I raised an eyebrow. “What exactly are you suggesting?”
‘I’m saying maybe we don’t need to wait for the paperwork,” she said with a cold smile. “Grieving widowers get everything, don’t they?”
A slow smile spread across my face. “And if something happened to both Olivia and the baby…”
“Once you have control, I can give you all the kids you want,” Bella purred, running her hand over her stomach. Our baby won’t be your dirty secret anymore. I’ll finally have what that rich bitch has-you, with a ring on it.”
Alex backed away slightly. “Guys, this conversation is heading into seriously dangerous territory.”
‘Relax, I told him. “Just spitballing here.”
But I wasn’t. I could see it all-Olivia’s car veering off the road. A tragic accident. The heartbroken husband stepping up to run the
company in her memory. From a blue-collar nobody to a business empire tycoon. The ultimate glow-up.
*Staircases are so dangerous for pregnant women, Bella continued. “Or those fancy prescription pills she takes for anxiety…”
I walked over and kissed her hard. “This is why we click. You get what needs to happen.”
“I get what it means to grind,” she shot back. “And I’m done being the one you tuck away while you play happy families with that bitch.”

Not much longer. I checked my Rolex-fake, but nobody knew that. ‘Once Olivia’s out of the picture, it all falls into place.”
‘One accident, and I get everything I deserve, I muttered, pulling out my phone to make a call.
