Chapter 268

I stormed into Grant Group headquarters with Blake, my blood boiling. Emma had moved faster than expected. Just two days after forcing her way into my parents’ estate, she was already in the boardroom waving legal documents around.

“What the hell do you mean I can’t become head of Grant Group with this agreement?” Emma’s voice echoed down the hallway. “I am Richard and Elaine’s designated heir!”

Blake touched my arm. “Ready to crash her party?”

“Let’s watch for a minute,” I whispered, peering through the glass.

Michael Johnson, our most senior director, adjusted his glasses with infuriating calmness. “Miss Grant, the document might be authentic, but you can’t transfer management rights of a multi-billion dollar company with a single piece of paper.”

James spoke up. “A month ago, Richard and Elaine trusted Aria completely. They wanted her running this company.”

Emma’s nails tapped against the table. God, that sound drove me crazy.

“I’ve been the Grant family daughter for twenty-plus years,” she snapped. “Aria showed zero ambition. She never gave a damn about this

family or business.”

“And what exactly are your outstanding achievements, Miss Grant?” Michael asked bluntly.

Emma froze. I had to stop myself from laughing. Michael was saying everything I wanted to.

“Aria built Nouvelle Retail Group from nothing. Her achievements speak for themselves, Michael continued. “Meanwhile, your record shows failed performances and trashy reality TV. You’re under investigation for murder, and you created a fake ‘Sofia identity.”

Emma’s face went white.

“Richard and Elaine were constantly disappointed in you,” Michael added. “Everyone saw how happy they were when Aria returned. That’s

the truth.”

Emma’s perfect mask cracked. Her eyes turned bloodshot as she jumped to her feet. “I will take over Grant Group! I’m announcing today that I, Sofia, am the new chairperson!”

“Not happening, Michael replied instantly.

Emma stared at him, shocked at the refusal.

Changing leadership isn’t done with just a signature, Michael explained. “If we vote against you, you’ll be nothing in this foundation!”

“Blake took over from Henderson without problems, Emma argued.

The directors actually laughed at this comparison. Emma’s face twisted in rage. “What are you laughing at?!”

That was our cue. I pushed open the conference room doors and walked in, Blake right behind me. The security guard stammered

apologies to Emma.

“Get out! Emma screamed at him.

I stood tall at the end of the table. “What are you doing here?” she demanded.

“I heard someone was making a total fool of herself at my parents’ company,” I said coolly. “You mentioned Blake? He succeeded because of actual talent and strategy, not because of some paper or daddy’s last name.”

I looked straight at her. “But you, Emma – which of these qualities do you actually have?”

Emma’s eyes darted between us frantically. I knew exactly what she was thinking – she had zero real talents or strategies. All she had was the fact that Blake owed her his life, but even that debt had been used up entirely. Her eyes burned with hatred as Blake took my hand in

front of everyone.

Emma jumped up, practically shaking with fury. “Who do you think you are? Everyone knows you only got your Morgan job three years ago because you’re sleeping with the boss!”

Her words stung, but I kept my face neutral. “Half the board already supports me, Emma. Unlike you, I understand how to earn respect,

not demand it.”

A nasty smile spread across Emma’s face. “So that’s your game. You’re after the Grant family money, aren’t you? You abandoned the parents who raised you, who gave you everything, just to grab power. You’re completely disloyal and selfish.”

I refused to let her see how much that hurt. “I’m not here for a takeover,” I replied. “I’m here to give you a chance to prove you’re not completely useless. Let’s make a bet – the partnership project with ‘LG’ bags as our challenge.”

I laid out the terms clearly: If Emma won, I’d help convince directors to let her take control. If I won, Emma would back off and let my father continue as CEO.

I smiled, knowing Emma couldn’t refuse. Her desperate need to prove herself was her biggest weakness.

The room went dead silent as I continued, “If I win, I don’t want the chairperson position.”

Emma’s jaw dropped. “You don’t want to be chairman? Are you messing with me right now?”

I handed her a prepared legal document. “If you think I’m playing games, sign this agreement right now.”

An older director raised concerns about fairness, mentioning my friendship with LG’s CEO, Thomas Anderson.

“Are you saying professional board members can’t judge two partnership proposals honestly?” I asked, looking around the room.

Someone muttered that Blake might help me win.

Blake’s ice-cold voice cut through the room. “If I wanted to help Aria, why waste time with you old foxes? I could buy Grant Group

tomorrow and give it to her for a dollar.”

His threat hung in the air. No one dared speak. I kept my face blank, though I was impressed by Blake’s brutally direct approach.

Emma turned to Blake with fake tears. “Blake, would you really destroy me for her?”

“Stop the pathetic act,” I snapped, completely fed up. “This bet actually helps you more than me. Beat me on the LG project and you prove to everyone you’re not just a spoiled brat playing businesswoman.”

I assured everyone I respected the business my parents built. Emma exchanged glances with her supporters, calculating her odds.

Since you’re so eager to fail publicly, I’ll accept!” Emma declared. “I’ve been surrounded by art and business since birth. Remember, Aria, you were just the housekeeper’s kid.”

The room went dead silent. Even Emma’s supporters looked horrified. Everyone knew Emma was actually the housekeeper’s daughter, switched with me at birth. Bringing this up was a huge mistake.

I remained perfectly calm. “Since you’ve had such excellent artistic and business training since childhood, losing to the housekeeper’s daughter would be absolutely humiliating, wouldn’t it?”

Emma’s face turned crimson. “You arrogant bitch!”

Trying to salvage something, Emma demanded Richard and Elaine participate in judging the competition.

Whatever you want, I agreed easily. “We’ll do exactly as Miss Grant asks.” I walked out with Blake and my supporters.

In the hallway, Jessica whispered worriedly, ‘Richard and Elaine will back Emma completely. You just handed her free votes.

I nodded. They won’t help me now. They might even try to sabotage me.”

“Then why agree?’ Jessica asked.

I smiled confidently. “Things change fast in business. Who knows what might happen by then?”
