Chapter 262

Two months after William returned home, we settled into a fragile routine. While he recovered at the manor, I buried myself in work-the Nouvelle Retail Group and LY Technology projects became my escape from fear. Now, standing in the bustling exhibition hall, I couldnt help but think how different this felt from the quiet hospital rooms we’d left behind.
Our plan was ambitious-a three-day “Future World’ tech exhibition showcasing LY Technology’s clean energy products, with 100 electric cars for test drives. Marketing predicted decent numbers.
They weren’t even close. The exhibition blew up. By day one, #Future World dominated Twitter and Instagram. Every news channel covered it. LY Technology’s brand recognition jumped 200% overnight.
Alex became a sensation. Suddenly women created fan accounts. Men copied his style. He joined that elite circle with Blake, Matthew, and Kevin as “America’s Most Charismatic Entrepreneurs.”
Three days later, I stood at the exhibition’s final event, checking details on my tablet. Everything had exceeded expectations. Nouvelle’s stock was up, LY Technology had become a household name, and my team couldn’t stop grinning.
“Congratulations on a successful event.”
I turned to see Alex standing behind me, wearing a crisp white custom suit with gold-rimmed glasses. His smile held that edge of danger women apparently found irresistible.
“Thank you,” I replied, keeping it professional. “The exhibition surpassed our projections.”
“Thanks to your brilliant planning.” His eyes stayed on me too long. “I wanted to discuss continuing our partnership. Perhaps over
dinner?’
I kept my face neutral while mentally hitting the emergency alarm. This man had deliberately hidden his real identity from me. “The exhibition speaks for itself,” I said carefully. “However, another major event so soon would risk brand oversaturation.”
His smile remained fixed. “Always the marketing expert. I figured you’d say that.”
“Mommy!”
I turned to see Aurora running toward me, her pink dress bouncing with each step. My heart jumped as I crouched down to catch her.
“What are you doing here, baby?” I asked, lifting her up.
“Daddy brought us! William wanted to see the ‘lectric cars!”

I looked up to see Blake walking toward us with William. Both wore matching black suits. Damn it. My heart shouldn’t still react this way
after everything.
Alex’s eyes narrowed slightly as he watched Blake approach. Something cold passed across his face.
“Mr. King, Blake nodded.
“Mr. Morgan, Alex replied, his tone turning to ice.
I hugged Aurora tight, then set her down to kiss William’s forehead. “What brings you all here? I thought William was resting today.”
Blake’s eyes sparkled with trouble. “William wanted to check out new energy technology. Aurora needed adventure. And I…” he moved closer, taking my hand, ‘wanted to see you.”
He interlaced our fingers, his thumb stroking my palm. The touch sent electricity up my arm. I felt my ears burning.
“We’re in public,” I muttered, trying to pull away.
“I noticed, Blake replied, not letting go. “Very, very aware of that fact.”
Alex cleared his throat. “Congratulations on your son’s recovery, Ms. Taylor. Your family looks quite… happy.”
The way he said “happy” made my skin crawl.
“Thank you,” I answered, keeping it short. “William is recovering well.”
“I hear he’s becoming quite the regular at Morgan Enterprises, Alex continued, watching William. “Unusual for a child his age.”
William’s face remained blank, but I felt his small body tense beside me. Mother’s instinct-he was getting angry.
“My son has varied interests,” I said, trying to end this conversation.
“So I’ve heard.” Alex’s smile turned predatory. “There are rumors he has unique insights into new energy. Remarkable for a four-year-old.”
Before I could respond, a balding man in an expensive suit approached. I recognized him as Hunter Winters, LY Technology’s Senior Development Director.
“Discussing the Morgan boy genius?” Hunter laughed, looking at William with open skepticism. “I’ve heard these stories too. Apparently, this little fellow understands complex energy conversion principles?”
Hunter laughed again, louder this time. Several other LY executives joined him.
“What’s next? Making him a company CEO?” another man snickered.

People were starting to stare. William stood perfectly still, his expression unchanged. Aurora stepped forward, her little face flushed with anger, but William caught her hand, stopping her.
