Chapter 252
ARIA
I managed a weak smile, totally drained by everything happening around me. The past few days had been brutal-William’s illness, Victoria’s betrayal, and now finding out Rebecca was Blake’s long-lost sister. My brain could barely process it all.

“Rebecca is truly a blessing,” I said, my voice breaking. “She’s the best gift heaven sent to all of us.”
I meant every word. Rebecca had always been sweet at Nouvelle, but now she was literally saving my son’s life. How could I ever repay
that?
Richard gave Elaine’s hand a squeeze. ‘We should go see Rebecca and congratulate Elizabeth. Must be one hell of a shock for both of
them.”
As they headed toward Rebecca’s room, Olivia touched my arm.
“I’ll wait till Uncle Richard and Aunt Elaine finish,” she said. “Too many people might freak Rebecca out. She gets nervous easily.”
We moved to the waiting area. Olivia’s eyes looked tired but kind.
“You know what, Aria?” she said. “This is the universe giving back what you deserve. You and William have always been good people.”
I shook my head. “I don’t believe in that stuff.”
‘Well, I do.” Olivia patted my hand. “William’s gonna be fine. No way he’s getting taken away so early.”
I knew what she was doing-trying to make me feel better about Alex’s creepy comments.
“Thanks, Olivia.”
“Don’t mention it. I just-
“What are you two discussing?”
Blake’s voice made me jump. I hadn’t heard him approach. He stood watching us, his face unreadable.
Olivia sighed. “I was just telling Aria not to worry about what Alex said. Some people just get off on spreading doom and gloom.”
She winked at me before turning back to Blake. “Just make sure you treat Aria right from now on. I won’t stand by watching her get hurt again.
Blake nodded, dead serious. “I’m changing, Olivia. I’m not that jerk anymore. I’m trying to consider Aria’s feelings and respect her

choices. He took a deep breath. If I ever disappoint her again… I’ll tear down everything I’ve built with my own hands.”

I stared at him, mortified. “What are you doing? Why are you suddenly swearing this loyalty oath?” My cheeks burned. This dramatic
declaration wasn’t the Blake I knew. “Olivia is sitting right here, you know.”
Olivia grinned. “I actually enjoy watching you two. You’re starting over, aren’t you? And Blake, you should express your feelings more
often. Never thought I’d see the ice mountain melt.”
She turned to me. And you, Aria-you turn into that blushing schoolgirl whenever he’s around.”
“That’s not true!” I protested, though my burning face said otherwise.
“Maybe after William and Rebecca’s surgeries, you two should think about getting back together, Olivia suggested.
I quickly stepped away from Blake. “No way. Things aren’t that simple. We need to take everything step by step.
‘Speaking of steps,” I said, desperate to change the subject, “William and Aurora’s birthday is next Monday.”
“Oh crap!” Olivia gasped. “I completely forgot! I’ve been so caught up with everything.”
Blake’s face turned ashen. “I… I didn’t know August 15th was their birthday.
“Of course you didn’t,” I said, not unkindly. “I never told you when I gave birth.”
Blake straightened up. “I promise to give them the biggest, most awesome birthday party ever. I want to make up for missing their first
three birthdays.”
“Actually,” I cut in, “I was thinking something smaller at your Hampton estate. William shouldn’t get too tired before his surgery.”
Blake nodded immediately. “Whatever you want. We can save the big celebration for when William recovers.”
Olivia leaned close to my ear. “Wow, Blake’s really becoming a good man for love. He’s giving in faster and faster.”
We moved to William’s room, where Aurora greeted the birthday party news with typical three-year-old excitement.
“Yay! Aurora loves Mommy’s birthday party!” She threw her arms around my neck. ‘Aurora thought everybody forgot cause everybody so
busy!”
My heart melted instantly. “How could Mommy ever forget the day my two angels came into my life?”
William looked thoughtful. “Can we see where Mommy lived when she was little?”
