The CEO's Regret: His Lost Wife's Secret Twins novel Chapter 210

Chapter 210

I wiped my eyes with my sleeve. “For reals?”

“For reals,” Uncle Blake promised. “Just a quick checkup and I’ll be outta here.”

I remembered something super important and bounced a little. “Uncle! Guess what! Last night William promised Mommy he’ll be your

friend from now on!”

Uncle Blake looked at Mommy with these super warm eyes. Mommy suddenly got real interested in her shoes.

I noticed Uncle Blake looked skinnier than before. I spotted a giant red apple on the table.

“I’ll wash this apple for you, ‘kay?’ I said, grabbing it. “So you can get super strong again!”

Uncle Blake smiled and nodded. I ran to the bathroom to wash that apple till it sparkled.

When I came back, I had the best idea ever. “Mommy, can you make those apple bunnies for Uncle Blake? Pleeease?”

Mommy took the apple and started cutting it into tiny bunny shapes. She was the absolute best at making fruit animals.

While she worked, Uncle Blake and Mommy talked real quiet. I caught Uncle Blake saying “thank you” to Mommy.

We all munched on apple bunnies. I told Uncle Blake about my new ballet twirls. After a while, Mommy crashed on the couch by the window, looking totally zonked.

Soon her eyes closed and she was out cold. Uncle Blake grabbed a blanket and tucked it around her super gentle.

“Your mommy’s worn out,” Uncle Blake whispered to me.

I nodded and scooted closer to Uncle Blake’s bed. “Uncle, can I tell you something?”

Uncle Blake patted the bed for me to hop up. “What’s on your mind, kiddo?”

I glanced at sleeping Mommy, then back at Uncle Blake. “I wish you knew Mommy better before. And hung out with her like now.”

Uncle Blake listened super carefully. Then he asked real quiet, “Do you and William get sick a lot? Are you healthy?”

I nodded, then shook my head. “When we were babies, we had problems. We went to hospitals tons. But we’re awesome now!”

Uncle Blake’s face got all scrunched with worry. “That must’ve been rough.”

“But we have Mommy and Godmommy Olivia, so we never feel like we’re missing anything!” I said, puffing my chest out.

Chapter 210

Uncle Blake’s hand got tight, and his eyes had all these grown-up feelings I couldn’t figure out.

“Aurora,” Uncle Blake asked soft as a whisper, ‘do kids ever tease you about not having a daddy?”

I stared at my hands and nodded. “Sometimes. But I didn’t wanna snitch. That’s what William calls it.”

“You’re a good girl, Aurora. This is just friends chatting,” Uncle Blake said.

So I told him about when I was in the children’s hospital and these mean kids called me “the girl with no daddy” and wouldn’t let me play

Mario Kart with them. I cried buckets, and William got in a huge fight defending me. His lip got busted.

“I felt super bad then,” I said. “Like our family had missing pieces.”

Uncle Blake listened real quiet, his eyes turning darker blue.

“But then I saw Mommy staying with me even when she was falling-down tired, and it clicked in my brain. We might not have a daddy, but our mommy gives us double the love!”

I grinned big. “After that, I wasn’t sad anymore. I went back to being happy Aurora!”

But Uncle Blake looked sad. His eyes got all red, and his hand was making a fist.

“Aurora, I’m so sorry… you’ve been through so much,” he said, barely making noise.

I scrunched my nose, confused. “Why are you sorry? Mommy’s the one working super hard. She does everything all by herself.”

Uncle Blake was quiet for ages, thinking about something major. Then he said, “Your mommy won’t have to work so hard anymore.”

“Because Uncle Matthew is gonna be our daddy soon, right?” I asked.

Uncle Blake looked a tiny bit sad but nodded. Then he said something grown-up: ‘I’m going to make you all the most special family

anyone’s ever seen.”

I didn’t totally get it, but I liked how determined Uncle Blake sounded. I grabbed his hand and told him all my secret treasures and best

stories.

We watched Mommy sleeping and smiled at each other. Everything felt warm and safe, just sitting there with Uncle Blake.
