The CEO's Regret: His Lost Wife's Secret Twins novel Chapter 160

Chapter 160

The door burst open again. I quickly pocketed the vial as Victoria stormed in, face flushed with rage.

“That bitch!” she shouted, pacing furiously. “That absolute home-wrecking tramp!”

I grabbed a champagne bottle and poured a glass. “Here, drink this. Take a breath and tell me what happened. Always the shoulder to cry on. Always cleaning up their messes.

Victoria snatched the glass. “Arya is what happened! She’s nothing but trouble-a manipulative, gold-digging skank!”

I handed her the champagne, keeping my voice calm. “I know, I saw her with Matthew. She’s obviously trying to worm her way into his wallet. I’d assumed she was with Matthew. That would’ve been manageable. That I could’ve handled.

Victoria’s eyes bulged. “Matthew? No, you don’t get it. She wasn’t after Matthew-she was after my brother!”

The champagne bottle slipped from my fingers, shattering on the floor. I barely registered the glass around my feet. No. No freaking way.

“What did you just say?” My voice sounded hollow even to me.

“That sneaky witch followed me here,” Victoria spat. “We had a showdown in the bathroom, and then Blake showed up. You should’ve seen her act-all innocent and helpless. Blake ate it up! Couldn’t take his eyes off her!”

My heart hammered painfully as Victoria continued. Each word was another nail in my coffin.

“Next thing I know, they’re practically glued to each other, and Blake whisked her off to a private room.” She downed the champagne. “She’s nothing but a money-hungry social climber! I can’t believe my brother’s falling for her crap again!”

I stood frozen among the broken glass. Not coincidence. Blake and Aria hadn’t just bumped into each other. And I’d helped them find each

other. Blake’s reaction… Oh shit.

*Emma? Hello? Earth to Emma?” Victoria waved her hand in my face.

Before I could answer, the door swung open, and Blake walked in. I stepped toward him instinctively but froze when I saw his expression. Something was different. Something I hadn’t seen in years.

His eyes were arctic as they landed on Victoria. “Where’d you pick up that trashy vocabulary? Boarding school or have you always been

this classless?”

Victoria straightened defensively. “I’m your sister. That woman was a total witch to me. I have every right to be pissed!”

Blake closed his eyes briefly. Victoria thought he was calming down. Wrong. I knew that look. That was Blake reining himself in.

Listen up,” he said, voice deadly quiet. “If I ever hear you talk about Arya like that again, I II cut off your Morgan princess allowance and kick you out of New York so fast your head will spin.”

Victoria gasped. “You’re not serious! Over some random nobody?”

‘I’ve ignored your crap for three years, Blake continued, “but don’t think for a second I’ve forgotten any of it. Don’t make me do

something we’ll both regret, Victoria.”

Victoria paled instantly. “I-I’m sorry. I swear I won’t say another word about her.”

Blake’s expression shifted subtly. “Good. We’ll forget this happened. Bill’s paid. You two enjoy your dinner.

As he walked out, I noticed something I hadn’t seen in three years-a bounce in his step, energy that had vanished when Aria

disappeared. He looked happy. Actually, genuinely happy.

After he left, Victoria turned to me, baffled. “Did that sound weird to you? It was almost like he was thanking me for bringing him here…

like I helped him find Aria.”

I couldn’t speak. My eyes burned as the horrible irony hit me. Victoria had unknowingly reunited Blake with Aria. And I-I who had spent

years keeping them apart-had arranged this dinner. I had made this happen. Me. The ultimate cosmic joke.

The room started spinning. I couldn’t breathe. After everything I’d done to keep them separated, I had accidentally brought them back

together. All my schemes, all my plotting, all my waiting-destroyed in one night. By my own hand.

My chest squeezed like a vise. My vision tunneled, and I felt myself falling.

The last thing I heard was Victoria’s scream for help, but the soundproofed walls swallowed her cries as darkness claimed me.
