Chapter 156
Aurora pushed her chair back. “Mommy, being sick is awful. Aurora wants to hug Mommy!”
I gently stopped her. “No, sweetie. I don’t want you to catch whatever I have.” I pulled out a mask from my purse and put it on, not
wanting to risk getting them sick.
My body felt increasingly chilled-definitely the beginning of a fever. The restaurant’s air conditioning wasn’t helping. I needed to wash my hands and then take the kids home before I got worse.
*Ethan, sweetie, can you watch your brother and sister while I go to the restroom?”
Ethan nodded seriously. “Yes, Godmother. I’ll take care of them.”
“We’ll be good,” William promised, helping Aurora with her napkin.
In the restroom, I splashed cold water on my face, trying to push away the feverish feeling. My reflection showed flushed cheeks and overly bright eyes. Great. Just what I needed on top of everything else happening today.
Just as I was drying my hands, the door opened.
Victoria walked in.
Her eyes widened in shock before narrowing with hostility. “Arya! What are you doing here? Are you stalking me?”
My expression went blank. So the “important guest” was the Morgan family princess. Of course. The universe had a sick sense of humor.
“Miss Morgan, I’m just eating dinner,” I said flatly.
‘First you go after Matthew at the Scott party, now this?” Her voice got louder. ‘I’m going to find him right now.”
I grabbed her arm. ‘Stop it. I’m not following you around. Not everything’s about you.”
Victoria jerked away, her bracelet clattering. ‘Do you know who I am? My father used to run Morgan Global, and I’m creative director of
our fashion-
“I know who you are, I cut her off. This woman really thought she was hot stuff.
“Scared I’ll tell Matthew what you’re really like?” she smirked. I’m finding him right now.”
I shoved her against the wall. Done with this crap. “Want to play games? I’ll post that dirty video of yours all over Manhattan. Times Square, social media, everywhere. Think your family name could handle that?”

Chapter 156
Her face went white. Now she was scared.

But Victoria didn’t give up easy. “You don’t scare me,’ she said, voice shaking. “When my brother finds out, he’ll destroy you.”
Destroy me? He already did that three years ago. ‘Didn’t you say I had some big shot backing me? Think they’d be scared of Blake?”
Victoria’s eyes suddenly lit up. “My brother’s here right now!” She started yelling. “Blake! Blake Morgan! This bitch is messing with me!”
I froze. Blake was here? I wanted to grab the kids and run. Three years avoiding him, and now we’re in the same place?
Victoria saw my shock and grabbed my arm. “Not so tough now, huh?”
“Let go,” I said coldly. “Walk away and I’ll forget this happened.”
“Blake!” she screamed. “I caught her! Get over here!”
Footsteps coming. My face went pale as the door opened. I couldn’t face him. Not now.
But it wasn’t Blake-just the manager and a waiter looking confused.
“Miss Morgan, everything okay?” the manager asked.
“Where’s my brother?” Victoria demanded. “Where’s Blake?”
I pulled free, relieved. “Nice bluff.”
“He is here!” she insisted.
I turned to leave. Had to get the kids and get out. If Blake really was upstairs, we needed to go.
I’ll wipe that smirk off your face!’ Victoria lunged at me hard.
I couldn’t dodge fast enough. Flying toward the glass wall. All I could think about-who’d take care of my kids if I got hurt? Aurora and
William needed me.
Then a strong hand caught my waist, pulling me into someone’s arms. When the world stopped spinning, I was staring into ice-blue eyes I hadn’t seen in three years.
My heart stopped.
