The CEO's Regret: His Lost Wife's Secret Twins novel Chapter 144

Chapter 144

Emma’s smile tightened but didn’t disappear. Though Samuel was clearly insulting her, she seemed almost pleased by the mention of Blake’s ‘special treatment.” The thought of Blake’s favoritism toward her obviously gave her some twisted satisfaction.

Then her attention shifted to me. So this was her real purpose-not Samuel, but me.

“And who’s this?” She stepped closer, studying my masked face. “A friend of yours, Mr. Scott?”

“A business associate, Samuel replied curtly.

Emma moved even closer to me. “You know, Blake Morgan-you’ve heard of him, right? CEO of Morgan Enterprises?-he and I have known each other forever. We’re practically joined at the hip these days.” She paused, watching for my reaction. “Did I just freak you out?’

I stared at her blankly. “Sorry, do I know you?”

Emma blinked, clearly thrown off-balance. “I… well, I just thought-

“Miss Grant seems to think she’s a celebrity everyone should recognize, Samuel interjected with undisguised contempt. “An unfortunate

side effect of her… position.”

“I simply thought- Emma tried again.

“Arya is a serious businesswoman focused on international retail expansion,” Samuel continued. “She doesn’t have time to keep up with

your Page Six drama.

Emma’s face froze in a brittle smile. I could practically see her seething beneath the polished exterior. “My bad,” she said stiffly. “I only came over because Ms. Arya looked familiar with that mask, and her figure reminded me of someone.”

“Mr. Scott,” I said calmly, “this area is getting pretty crowded. Maybe we could continue our discussion somewhere quieter?”

Samuel nodded. “The VIP lounge upstairs would be perfect.”

As we turned to leave, I noticed Emma’s hand move slightly toward me. Whatever she was planning would have to wait, because at that exact moment, a loud crash came from the entrance, followed by gasps and confused murmurs.

Victoria stood in the doorway, flanked by several rough-looking men with metal pipes. Her once-flawless appearance had deteriorated significantly-heavy makeup failed to hide the dark circles under her eyes or her gaunt features.

“Where is she?’ Victoria shouted, scanning the room. “Where’s Arya?”

The guests around us murmured in shock. I stopped and turned to face her. This confrontation was inevitable, but I hadn’t expected it

tonight.

Samuel stepped forward. “Ms. Morgan, this is a private event. You need to leave. Now.”

Victoria ignored him, her gaze locking onto me. “You,” she hissed. “I know it’s you behind that mask.”

“Do I know you?” I asked calmly.

“Don’t play dumb, she spat. “You’re the bitch who went after Matthew!”

I almost laughed. Victoria’s mental state had clearly deteriorated since I’d last seen her. While I discreetly texted security behind my back,

I maintained my composure.

“Look, I think you should consider checking out the psychiatric department at Redwood Medical Center,” I suggested. “They’ve got great

doctors there.”

Victoria’s face contorted with rage. She pulled several photos from her purse and threw them on the floor. “My bestie sent me these.

Explain these, then!!”

The room fell silent as everyone stared at the scattered images. I glanced down and nearly laughed again. They showed Matthew and me sitting at a corner table in a dessert shop, clearly in conversation.

“These are just photos of two people having coffee,” I stated flatly. “If that’s your definition of an affair, I worry about your grasp on

reality.

“Stop lying! Everyone can see what’s going on!” Victoria shrieked.

“Mr. Scott, maybe it’s time to call security,” I suggested quietly.

“Wait!” Victoria shouted. “I’ve got more dirt on you, Arya-or should I say, the mysterious woman who came out of nowhere!”

The room went deadly quiet.

“My friend Jason in Europe has been digging into your background, Victoria continued triumphantly. “You’re the head of Nouvelle Retail Group now, but you were a nobody before your sudden rise two years ago.”

I kept my expression neutral, though my stomach tightened.

And guess who your sugar daddy is? Richard fucking Grant – Emma’s father! Dude’s been married for thirty years!”
