The CEO's Regret: His Lost Wife's Secret Twins novel Chapter 104

Chapter 104

CHRISTINE

I dragged Aria’s unconscious body into my car and zip-tied her wrists. She looked pathetic slumped against the passenger door, blood

trickling down her face.

I started the engine and sped away. My plan wasn’t perfect, but I had no choice. Aria knew too much.

“Where did you hide that dashcam footage? I demanded, glancing at her. Her eyelashes fluttered, but she stayed silent. “Answer me, you

little bitch!”

Nothing. Just shallow breathing.

“This is all your fault, I hissed, gripping the steering wheel. “You should have stayed in your place. But no, you had to keep digging.

I drove up Peak Zero, the steep cliffs looming beside us. The perfect place to end this. An unfortunate accident.

“You ruined everything,” I spat at her limp form. “Everything I built. Twenty-three years of careful planning, destroyed because you

couldn’t let your pathetic father’s death go.”

My stomach burned. I glanced down and saw blood seeping through my shirt. I pressed harder, cursing.

Aria’s head lolled to the side. Blood had dried on her temple where I’d struck her during the crash.

“The Grants gave me everything, and I took it all, I laughed. “Their real daughter, their money, their trust. Stupid, trusting fools. And you? You were supposed to stay broken. Supposed to know your place.”

Suddenly, helicopter blades cut through the air. I checked my rearview mirror and my blood ran cold. A black helicopter was overhead, and

behind me a convoy of black SUVs was approaching fast.

“Shit!” I slammed my fist on the steering wheel. How did they find us so fast?

Through my mirror, I could see Blake standing through the sunroof of the first vehicle. His expression was murderous as he directed the

pursuit.

I yanked the wheel and pulled into the observation area at the top of Peak Zero. The tires screeched as I stopped just yards from the cliff edge. Below us, jagged rocks and churning sea promised certain death.

Fine. If I’m going down, I’m taking her with me.

I grabbed my folding knife from the glove compartment. By the time the convoy surrounded us, I had the blade pressed against Aria’s

throat.

I dragged her from the car, supporting her limp body while keeping the knife at her neck. Her head lolled against my shoulder, blood

smearing onto my blouse.

“Stay back!” I shouted as Blake got out. “One more step and I slit her throat right here!”

Richard and Elaine scrambled out of another car. Richard looked pale, stumbling as he stepped forward. Elaine’s face was a mask of terror.

Blake stood perfectly still, his breathing controlled but heavy, his eyes fixed on Aria’s bloodied face.

“Let her go, Christine,” he commanded.

I laughed, the sound high and wild. “Or what? You’ll arrest me? I’m already dead, Morgan. But I’m taking your precious wife with me!”

“You don’t have to do this,” Elaine’s voice trembled. “Please, we can work something out-

“Work something out?” I shrieked. “Like you worked things out when you took me in? Poor little orphan Christine, so grateful for the

Grants’ charity?”

I pressed the knife harder, drawing a line of blood. “I hated every second in your house. Every smile, every kindness was a lie. I played the grateful servant while plotting how to destroy you all.”

Richard stepped forward. “We treated you like family-

“Family?” I spat. “You treated me like a charity case! Do you know what it’s like to watch from the shadows while everyone else got everything? Emma got the life, the money, the status. And for what? Being born?”

My grip tightened on Aria. “So yes, I switched the babies. I wanted to see the mighty Grants raise a nobody’s child while their real daughter grew up as trash.”
