Chapter 101
Matthew’s expression went cold.

“My father’s accident,’ he said, stepping toward Christine. “Who was really driving that night? Does someone here know the truth?”
Christine’s face drained of color.
“Aaron left evidence before he died. Documents pointing to who really caused that crash ten years ago.”
My mind was spinning. What evidence? What did Christine know?
“Tomorrow morning, Aria gets the footage verified. By noon, the FBI will have a warrant. By evening, you’ll be in custody. He turned to
Christine with a cold smile. “And when she goes down, you’re going with her.”
He turned to leave, then paused at the door.
“Oh, and Emma?” He glanced back at me. “You might want to enjoy your freedom while it lasts. You don’t have much time left.”
He walked away, leaving me frozen on the doorstep.
Christine stood there, staring after him. She looked pale, shocked.
“Christine?’ I grabbed her arm hard. “What was he talking about? What evidence? What does Aaron know? What do you know about that
car accident?”
She didn’t answer. Just kept staring into the distance with wide, terrified eyes.
I destroyed my bedroom.
The crystal vase went first-I threw it against the wall with all my strength. The crash wasn’t satisfying enough. I swept everything off my dresser, Perfume bottles, jewelry boxes, framed photos-all of it hit the floor in an explosion of glass and metal.
“This can’t be happening! I screamed, ripping down the curtains. The fabric tore in my hands. This can’t be real!
Everything I’d built. Years of work. Years of meticulous planning. My position as Emma Grant, beloved ballerina. My relationship with Blake. My place in New York society. All of it about to come crashing down soon.
“I’m not going to prison!” I sobbed, collapsing among the wreckage. Sharp pieces of glass cut into my knees but I barely felt it. I can’t! I’m too young! I haven’t married Blake yet! I haven’t become Mrs. Morgan! This was supposed to be my life!”

Chapter 101
Prison. The word alone made me want to vomit. Small cells. Concrete walls. Orange jumpsuits. Other inmates who d hate me for being
rich and privileged. Guards. No privacy, no control, no freedom. No ballet. No beauty. No life.
“My career is over,” I whispered, the reality sinking in. “The ballet company will drop me. The Grants will kick me out. Blake will never
speak to me again. I’ll have nothing. I’ll be nothing. Less than nothing.”
Christine knelt beside me on the glass-covered floor. Her knees pressed into the shards, blood seeping through her clothes, but she didn’t
seem to notice or care.
“Listen to me,” she said, gripping my hands so hard it hurt. “I won’t let that happen. I won’t let you lose everything.”
“How?” I demanded, tears and mascara streaming down my face. “How can you possibly stop this? Aria has evidence! Real, actual
evidence! She’s meeting the building owner soon! Then she’s going straight to the FBI! It’s over! I’m finished!”
“No.” Christine’s voice turned hard. Sharp. Determined. “We just need to make sure Aria never gets to that meeting. Or if she does, that
she never makes it to the FBI afterward.”
I stared at her through my tears. “What are you talking about?”
Christine didn’t answer right away.
She’d been so sure Blake would protect me. So certain he’d choose me over Aria when it mattered. But Matthew was right-Blake had chosen Aria’s side. The man I’d spent years trying to win over had picked her in the end.
“Blake was supposed to choose you,” Christine muttered. “That was the plan. But he’s protecting her now, not you.”
Her jaw clenched. Something cold shifted in her expression.
‘I put you in this position,” she said, pulling me close. “I made you Emma Grant. I built this life for you. Her arms tightened. So now I
protect it.”
A chill ran down my spine. “What do you mean?”
“My life was never meant to be happy, Christine whispered. ‘No redemption for someone like me. No second chances.”
She pulled back. Her eyes were dead. Cold.
I’ll take the fall for everything. Confess to it all. The blame lands on me, not you.”
‘Christine, no-
“And Aria.” Her fingers dug into my shoulders. I’ll handle her too. She won’t make that meeting. Won’t make it to the FBI.
