The Bride He Took for Granted

Chapter 79

“On equal footing with Elise? Then who are we supposed to report to from now on?”

“Elise!”

Jerry was the first to spot Elise approaching.

Landon’s hands froze mid-applause.

Without turning around, he said to Jerry, “Show Joan around the company first.”

“Everyone else, get back to work.”

Once everyone had dispersed, Landon finally turned around.

Elise wore the same calm expression he knew so well.

Not a trace of emotion showed in her eyes.

It was as if neither he nor Joan had anything to do with her.

Landon didn’t know when he had started to hate Elise’s composure and dignity.

He walked toward her, his expression dark. 1/6

I’m bringing her into Novatech, so don’t make things difficult for her.”

“I don’t mind,” Elise said softly.

“As long as you’re happy, Mr. Carter.”

With that, she walked around him, returned to her office, and

closed the door.

Elise had once again gotten under Landon’s skin with ease.

Frustrated, he kicked the potted plant beside him.

How had he never noticed that she was so good at making him

angry?

She was driving him crazy…

When Cynthia Adams from the localization team heard that Elise had returned, she went to ask for help translating part of the international version of a game.

While Elise had been away, the other translator had kept coming to her with questions all day long, leaving her with a constant headache.

Just as she was about to knock on Elise’s office door, Jerry and Joan walked over.

The localization specialist greeted Jerry.

When she heard that Elise was the person she had come to ask for help, Joan immediately stepped forward.

“Just leave it to me. I can handle it.”

The localization specialist didn’t care who handled the translation as long as someone could take some work off her

hands.

Jerry knew exactly how much Landon favored Joan now.

She had even moved into the master bedroom…

So he said, “Let Joan handle it.”

Without hesitation, the localization specialist handed the files to Joan and hurried back to her desk.

When work ended, Elise met Chloe for barbecue.

Chloe was still upset that her father had favored her brother and refused to give her half of the money he had hidden in overseas

accounts.

After dinner, she dragged Elise out for karaoke.

By the time Elise returned home, it was already eleven at night.

When she got downstairs, she saw Daniel helping Harold out of

the car.

Harold was completely drunk.

Harold was much taller and broader than Daniel, making it difficult for him to support him alone.

Daniel called Elise over to help.

“Put Mr. Nash’s arm around your shoulder. We’ll get him upstairs together.”

Daniel didn’t seem to realize how awkward it was for Elise.

She hesitated, but she still stepped forward to help.

Harold’s suit jacket hung open. His eyes were tightly shut, and he looked as though he were already asleep.

Elise pulled one of his arms over her shoulder and slipped underneath it.

Daniel took the opportunity to shift more of Harold’s weight onto Elise.

“Why did you let go? I can’t hold him.”

Elise staggered under Harold’s weight. Her steps became unsteady, and she nearly lost her balance.

Her heart began to race.

Rolling his aching shoulder, Daniel said, “Hang in there. I’ll move the car outside and be right back.”

The day Jane arrived in Los Angeles, Harold had driven Elise to Lafitte Estates and missed a dinner arranged by the CEOs of Apex Capital and Zephyr Tech.

So tonight, Harold had personally, hosted a dinner to make it up to them.

Harold was usually too difficult to approach. Since he rarely lowered his guard around others, the executives took the opportunity to drink with him until he was completely drunk.
