The Bride He Took for Granted
Chapter 45
Landon headed toward a quieter corner.
When he realized Elise wasn’t following him, he turned around and found her back at her desk.
Suppressing his irritation, he followed her.
Elise silently packed up her things. Her expression was cold, but Landon’s was even colder.
“Are you happy now? Harold is obviously going to protect his own people. If they pull the footage and find even one thing you did wrong, not only could this partnership fall apart, you could end up taking the blame too.”
Elise was so angry that her cramps worsened. She bent slightly, pressing a hand to her lower abdomen.
She didn’t even have the energy to argue with him.
Landon was too caught up in his own frustration to notice.
“When did you start acting like this? Making a huge scene over something so private. If you needed pads, you could’ve called me. I would’ve bought them and brought them to you myself. Did you really have to announce it in front of everyone? It’s drbarrassing.”

“Landon!”
Elise was close to losing her temper.
“You used to respect me. You used to respect women. What happened to you?”
She stared at him, her voice trembling with anger.
“Pads are no different from tissues or Band-Aids. They’re
normal. There’s nothing dirty or embarrassing about needing them.”
“Enough.”
Landon noticed several people looking over and shot her a warning glare.
Elise took a deep breath. Her nose stung.
“I don’t want to argue with you here. Just leave me alone.”
She picked up her bag and walked behind a row of potted plants, putting herself out of everyone’s sight.
What she had done today had already taken more courage than anyone realized.

She had never been comfortable drawing attention to herself. Standing up for herself and for Emily-had been hard enough.
What she needed right now was someone on her side.
Not someone blaming her for speaking up.
Harold was sitting in the Team One manager’s office.
Through the glass wall, he saw Elise slip behind the plants. where no one could see her.
She tilted her head back and blinked rapidly, trying to hold back
her tears.
It didn’t work.
A few still slipped down her cheeks.
She quickly wiped them away, but the miserable look on her face remained.
Daniel handed Harold his phone with the security footage pulled up.
“These guys in Team One are unbelievable,” he muttered. “Especially Caleb.”
Bleshook his head.

“No wonder Ms. White was furious.”
Harold watched every clip without a word.
When he finished, he held out a hand to Daniel for a cigarette.
He took a slow drag, held the smoke for a moment, then exhaled.
His voice was quiet and cold.
“Pull the company chat logs for everyone in Team One.”
Daniel immediately got to work.
When Harold saw the chat logs, his expression darkened.
Caleb and several others had joked about their female coworkers’ bodies, spread rumors about Elise, and even secretly taken photos of her from behind after her pants were soaked.
Harold crushed his cigarette into the ashtray.
“Fire everyone who joined in-anyone who mocked her, laughed along, or stood there encouraging it.”
Daniel nodded.

Some people clearly had no sense of decency or boundaries.
“And Caleb?”
Harold turned his head.
Through the glass wall, Elise was still standing behind the plants, taking slow breaths as she tried to pull herself together.
Something unreadable flickered in his eyes.
“Put out an official notice. Website, social media, public channels, in-app notifications-everywhere.”
His voice was flat.
“State that Caleb maliciously spread false rumors, publicly humiliated women, made degrading remarks about them, and seriously damaged trust within the company. Make it clear that he’ll never work at Firefly Glow again.”
Daniel’s stomach tightened.
With Firefly Glow’s reach, the notice would be almost impossible to miss.
Caleb wouldn’t just lose this job.
Binding another respectable position in Los Angeles would be:00

difficult. His reputation could follow him far beyond the city.
Outside, Landon stood with his hands on his hips, watching Elise refuse to give in.
The pressure in his chest kept building until he could barely
stand it.
He pulled out Elise’s chair to sit down, then stopped.
Water was still dripping from the edge.
