Lisa POV
Kade crossed the room and stopped too close. Not touching, but close enough that his shoulder blocked the rest of the room from view.
“How have you been, Lisa? I’ve been worried about you.”
“I’m fine.”
“Are you?” His gaze moved across my face, searching. “Because you shouldn’t be here. What is it you need? Money? I’ll help you. Just don’t do this.”
The offer sounded genuine, but it wasn’t.
“I appreciate that,” I said, shifting my weight so there was more space between us. “But I don’t need your help.’
“You always were stubborn.” He smiled faintly. “That’s one of the things I admired about you. We would have made a powerful couple.”
“We tried that,” I said with a huff. “You told me you weren’t ready to commit. Remember?”
Kade’s smile faded. He glanced briefly around the room, then leaned closer.
“It was bad timing,” he said. “I had responsibilities back then. Pressure from the pack. Things were complicated. I can’t watch you do this to yourself. You could still walk away from this arrangement.”
I laughed. “You think I can just leave?”
“You can come back to Creek Keepers. We could start over. Do things right this time.”
My eyes held his.
“Now you want to do things right after you told me commitment would ruin your future?”
Kade’s gaze dropped briefly to my throat.
“You deserve better than being someone’s contract,” he said.
He looked at me for a long moment.
“I hope you don’t regret this one day,” he said.
Before I could respond, another voice cut through the room.
“Lisa.”
Cameron stood in the doorway. His expression had gone hard enough that the air in the room shifted.
“A word,” Cameron said to me.
Not a request.
I stood immediately.
“Excuse me.”
Kade didn’t move as I walked past him, but I could feel his eyes on my back.

Cameron didn’t speak until we reached his study. He stepped inside behind me, shut the door, and locked it.
Then he turned.
“I don’t want to see you with Kade. Not in private. Not in public. Not anywhere.”
“I can’t control who visits your mate.”
“You can control whether you encourage him.”
“What exactly was I supposed to do, refuse to see them when I was summoned?”
Cameron’s hands flexed at his sides.
“I didn’t know they were coming either. But I can’t stop him from visiting his sister.”
“Then don’t get angry at me for being polite to your mate’s family.”
He gave a short laugh that carried no humor.
“That fool was trying to recruit you back into his life.”
“And what do you care? Im nothing but a hired womb, remember? That doesn’t mean other people won’t want me.”
His gaze darkened. “While you’re here, you’re not entertaining other men.”
“I wasn’t entertaining him.”
“You were letting him stand two inches from your face.”
“He used to stand a lot closer than that.”
The words slipped out before I could stop them.
Cameron went still.
Jealousy rolled off him so thick it almost felt physical.
And something reckless rose in my chest.
Power.
Because he was jealous.
No matter how many times he insisted I meant nothing.
I stepped forward.
Cameron didn’t move.
“If you’re going to act territorial,” I said quietly, “you should at least admit why.”
“Lisa-“”
His warning came too late.
If he wanted control, he shouldn’t have shown me that weakness.

I rose onto my toes and kissed him.
He didn’t respond at first.
Then something inside him broke.
His hands gripped my waist and pulled me against him as he kissed me back with a hunger that erased the careful. distance we kept during our scheduled encounters.
This kiss was messy and urgent.
His hands moved through my hair, down my back, pulling me tighter. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him harder, letting every tangled feeling spill into it.
When we finally broke apart, we both struggled to breathe.
Cameron’s eyes glowed gold. It was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen.
“We shouldn’t-”
I sank to my knees.
His words stopped.
“Lisa, what are you-”
I reached for his belt.
His hand closed over mine. “You don’t have to.”
“I know.” I looked up at him. “I want to.”
That part was true. I wanted him to lose control. I wanted to feel powerful instead of powerless.
Cameron hesitated, then his hand fell away.
He let me undo his belt and push his pants down enough to free him.
He was already hard.
I wrapped my hand around him and stroked slowly, watching the tension build across his face as his breathing grew uneven.
Then I leaned forward.
The sound he made was rough and surprised.
His hand settled against the back of my head as I worked him with my mouth, learning the rhythm that made his grip tighten and his hips move forward.
“Fuck,” he breathed.
I took him deeper.
The last of his restraint disappeared.
He moved against my mouth with urgency, chasing release. My hands steadied against his thighs as I let him take what he needed.

“I’m going to-“His voice broke. “Lisa, if you don’t want-”
I didn’t stop.
He finished with a groan, his body tensing before the release finally passed.
When I pulled back, he caught my arm and lifted me to my feet before kissing me again.
“That was…” He stopped, searching for the words. “You didn’t have to do that.”
“I wanted to.”
And that was the part that unsettled me.
Not that it happened.
That I wanted it.
Cameron rested his forehead against mine while we both tried to steady our breathing.
“This is so fucked up,” he said under his breath. “I can’t stop wanting you.”
The confession hung between us. Because I couldn’t stop wanting him either. No matter how many times I reminded myself this was temporary..
Cameron finally stepped back, his gaze still intense.
“I’ll stay away from Kade. You should stay away from me.”
Cameron nodded, fixed his clothes, and left the room.
I stood there alone, the taste of him still lingering, knowing I was stupidly breaking the rules.
