Thirty-Six
LISA POV
Cameron moved before I could process what was happening.
He grabbed the man who had pinned me and hauled him up by the throat. The bastard clawed at Cameron’s grip, . trying to pry his fingers loose.
“Alpha-” he choked. “Please-”
Cameron’s fist smashed into his face. Bone cracked. Blood sprayed across the dirt, across Cameron’s chest, across my arms where I was still crouched on the ground.
He threw the man aside. The hunter hit the ground and curled into himself, whimpering.
The others hadn’t run. They had shifted back to human form and stood a careful distance away with their hands
raised.
“She ran into neutral territory alone,” one of them said quickly. “She didn’t identify herself. She had no protection. We thought she was a rogue. This is neutral land. By law she was-”
“I don’t give a fuck about the law.” Cameron’s eyes still burned gold with rage. “You touched her. You pinned her down. You were about to rape her. She belongs to Silver Creek Pack. She belongs to me. If any of you come near her again, I will tear your throats out and leave your bodies for the crows.”
Silence filled the clearing.
The hunters glanced at each other and began backing away.
“Apologies, Alpha,” one muttered.
“We meant no disrespect-”
“Leave,” Cameron growled.
They scattered.
Within seconds they shifted and vanished into the trees, dragging their injured companion with them.
The clearing fell quiet.
I was still on the ground, naked and shaking hard enough that my teeth knocked together.
Cameron turned toward me. The fury in his eyes hadn’t faded. If anything, it sharpened when he looked at me.
“What the fuck were you thinking?”
I stayed silent.
“You left the estate,” he continued, voice rising. “You walked past the gates and into neutral territory alone. Without protection. Do you have any idea what could have happened to you?”
“I needed to clear my head.”
“So you decided getting assaulted was the solution?” He stepped closer. “Or killed? Or worse?”
I pushed myself upright, legs unsteady. “I didn’t think-”

“No. You didn’t.” His jaw tightened. “You walked out of the one place where you’re safe because you needed to ‘ clear your head”?”
Anger sparked in my chest.
“I didn’t know about the totem rule. I’ve been inside the estate for weeks. I don’t know how anything works out here.”
“Then you should have stayed inside.”
“I can’t stay inside forever.”
“You can and you will if it keeps you from getting yourself killed.” Cameron closed the distance between us until I had to step back. “You’re under contract. That means you follow the rules. You don’t leave the estate without permission. You don’t go anywhere without an escort. And you definitely don’t run off into the wilderness like a fucking idiot.”
The words stung.
Because he was right.
But I was so tired of being controlled.
I turned to leave.
Cameron grabbed my wrist and pulled me back.
“You’re not going anywhere until we finish this.”
“There’s nothing to finish.”
“You could have died.” His grip tightened. “Do you understand that? If I hadn’t been scouting nearby, those hunters would have-”
“I know.” My voice cracked. “I just needed to get away. I needed to breathe.”
I tried to pull free.
“Let me go.”
“You don’t get to run from me, Lisa.” His voice dropped low. “You signed a contract. Until you’re pregnant or the contract ends, you’re mine.”
The possessiveness should have made me furious.
Instead something twisted deep in my stomach.
We stood close enough that I felt the heat of his skin and the pull of his scent. His pupils had blown wide, turning his eyes almost black.
“What’s the difference?” I asked.
Cameron frowned. “What?”
“What’s the difference between what they wanted and what you’ve been doing?”
The question hung between us.
His expression shifted.

“Say that again,” he said quietly.
I should have stopped.
I didn’t.
“They wanted to use my body without my consent. You use my body without caring whether I want it, They were going to take what they wanted and leave. You take what you want and leave. So tell me, Alpha Cameron, what’s the difference?”
His breathing changed. His grip tightened.
“The difference,” he said in a low growl, “is that I paid for you. I have a contract. I have rights to your body. Those men had nothing.”
The ground slammed into my back before I understood what happened. Cameron pinned my wrists above my head with one hand.
I gasped.
“You want to know the difference?” he said, his face inches from mine. “When I touch you, your body responds. When I spread your legs, you get wet. When I fuck you, you take every inch.” 1
“That’s not-”
“Yes, it is.” His free hand slid over my hip and down my thigh. “You can pretend you hate this. Pretend it’s only about money. But we both know the truth.”
His fingers moved higher.
My body betrayed me instantly.
My thighs opened. My breathing changed. Heat pooled between my legs as my body reacted to him the way it always did.
“There it is,” he murmured, fingers brushing dangerously close. “That’s the difference. They would have taken. I make you want to give.”
“I don’t-”
His fingers slid between my thighs.
I was soaked.
Cameron’s gaze darkened when he felt it. Then he kissed me.
He had never kissed me before. It had always been the one boundary between us.
His mouth crashed against mine, hot and demanding, forcing my lips apart as his tongue slid against mine.
I kissed him back.
The moment his mouth touched mine, every wall I’d built collapsed.
I kissed him like I was drowning.
Cameron groaned. His hand moved to my shirt and ripped it over my head. My sports bra followed. His hands closed over my breasts, thumbs brushing my nipples until I gasped into his mouth. s

“Tell me to stop,” he said.
I didn’t.
“Tell me you don’t want this.”
I couldn’t.
Because I did want it.
Sharefully.
Desperately.
His hands moved to my leggings and dragged them down. I lifted my hips without thinking. My underwear followed.
Then I lay naked beneath him on the forest floor.
Cameron looked down at me.
Then he settled between my legs.
This wasn’t like the other times.
There was no bedroom. No schedule. No careful distance.
Just dirt beneath my back, the open sky above us, and Cameron’s weight pressing me into the earth.
Raw. Real.
He positioned himself and pressed against me.
“Look at me,” he ordered.
I did.
Our eyes locked as he pushed inside.
The stretch burned even though my body was ready for him.
This time I didn’t look away.
I watched his face as he sank deeper.
“Fuck,” he breathed.
He pushed until he was fully inside me.
For a moment we stayed like that.
Then he moved slowly and pulled out almost completely before sliding back in.
Everything felt different.
The way he held my gaze. The way his hand came up to cradle my face. The way he kissed me again, softer this
time.
I wrapped my legs around him and pulled him deeper.

Cameron groaned.
His rhythm changed, harder now. Each thrust hit deeper, sending sparks up my spine.
“There?” he asked.
I nodded.
He hit it again.
And again.
Pressure built inside me until it snapped.
“Come for me,” Cameron said.
The orgasm tore through me. My back arched and my body clenched around him.
Cameron cursed and drove deeper, chasing his own release.
I felt him swell. Felt the knot form and lock us together.
He buried himself and came with a hoarse groan.
Warmth filled me.
We stayed like that, knotted together, both of us shaking and trying to catch our breath.
And something between us shifted.
A wall broke.
With a certainty that terrified me, I knew nothing between us would be the same after this.
