Lisa POV
The room went quiet. He didn’t move, neither did I. It came down to one thing; tell him to leave or let him stay. He stood there, occupying the space near the door, waiting.
“You’re an Alpha, Cameron. You don’t get to be unstable like this. You don’t get to say one thing and then act like it didn’t happen. I don’t understand you.”
The silence stretched out between us. He reached up and ran a hand through his dark hair. The strands had grown out, losing the short, clean cut he usually kept. He looked restless, like a man who had not slept in days. I decided then that I wanted to reach out and rub the tension from his forehead. I wanted to pull him close and kiss him, just to see if he would push me away.
“You’re right,” he said after a pause.
He didn’t offer an explanation. He just kept watching me to see if I would yield. Í stood my ground, though my head felt heavy with the confusion of the day.
“What about Evangeline?”
His voice went flat when he finally spoke. “This isn’t about her right now. Do not bring her into this room.”
I let out a huff and looked away from him toward the window.
None of this made sense. I had seen two different versions of him in the span of a few hours, and I could not decide which one was real. I thought about what Franklin had said earlier. Franklin believed something was off, and I was starting to agree. I looked back at him.
“You told me exactly what I am here for earlier today. You were very clear about the contract. So do not come here now pretending this is something else.”
“I’m not pretending,” he said.
He walked toward me. He stopped when he was inches away.
“I could not stop thinking about you, Lisa.”
The admission hung in the air. Neither of us moved to break the silence. He was close enough that I could see the gold flecks in his irises.
“You’re the one pretending now,” he said. He gave a small smile that didn’t reach his eyes. “You want me to kiss you. You are just too stubborn to say it out loud.”
“Maybe,” I replied. “Or maybe I’m just following the rules you set.”
Another silence followed. He made no move to touch me. He was waiting for me to take the lead.
I decided to ignore the consequences.
Without taking my gaze off him, I reached for the tie of my silk robe, I pulled it loose and let the fabric slide off my shoulders and hit the floor.
He looked me over, his gaze moving from my neck down to my feet. I felt a sudden heat between my thighs. He stepped in and circled my waist with his arm. He leaned his head down and inhaled against the skin of my neck. I shut my eyes and let the desire take over.

I had missed the weight of his hands on me. I had missed the way he felt when we were skin to skin.
He kissed me. It wasn’t a gentle start. He pressed his mouth to mine and pushed his tongue past my lips. I kissed him back with the same level of hunger. I didn’t do it to fix whatever was wrong with him. I did it because 1 wanted him.
We didn’t go to the bed. He walked me backward until my spine hit the wall. He dropped to his knees on the rug He grabbed the backs of my thighs and spread my legs wide.
His tongue licked my folds in one long stroke. I gasped. He didn’t slow down. He pressed his face against me and/ licked from my entrance up to my clit. The rhythm was steady and wet, weakening my legs.
“Cameron,” I whispered.
I put my hands on the back of his head to keep him there. He sucked my clit into his mouth. He used his tongue so swirl around the center of the heat. Two of his fingers pushed deep inside me, curled against my wall.
The pressure built up fast until my hips jerked against his mouth, and my thighs clamped around his head. I cried out as the pulses went through me.
I pulled him up by his shirt and walked him toward the bed. I pushed him down until he was flat on his back. His cock was out, thick and heavy.
My pregnant belly was showing now, a round reminder of the contract, but it felt erotic as I hovered over him and settled my knees on either side of his hips.
He filled me completely in one slow move. The fullness felt like a sharp pleasure.
I put my hands on his chest and started to move. I rolled my hips to make sure I rubbed against him with every downward stroke. He gripped my waist to hold me steady, but I kept control of the pace. I rode him harder, taking every inch of him.
His breathing went rougher. I leaned forward to change the angle and kept grinding my weight against him. Another wave of heat hit me. I came again, my muscles clenching tight around him. He groaned and bucked his hips up, spilling deep inside me.
We stayed like that for a few minutes while our breathing slowed. He stayed joined to me as the tension left his body. Eventually, I climbed off and lay beside him. I stared at the ceiling and tried to find the logic in what had just happened.
“I needed that,” he said.
I turned my head toward him. He leaned over and kissed me on the lips.
“What happened with Desmond?”
He let out a groan and looked toward the door. “I don’t want to think about work or Desmond right now. Just stay here.”
Silence returned to the room. I lay there in the warmth of his body, but the confusion remained. This felt right, which was the most dangerous part of the situation. Nothing about his behavior today was normal, yet this connection was still there. I closed my eyes. I knew one thing was certain. Something was still very wrong with him.
