Luke retorted, “Even if Alice scored poorly, she doesn’t need to retake the exam. She scored better than most of us, except for Third Brother, the medical prodigy. Her score was excellent.” Her improvement in just a few months was remarkable.
Chloe, surprised, looked at Luke. He was actually defending Alice? Noah had changed; was Luke changing too? A wave of panic washed over Chloe. She couldn’t lose the brothers‘ favor. Chloe said anxiously, “Alice’s score improved dramatically, but that might not be sustainable. Perhaps she performed poorly due to instability.”
Noah was conflicted. “Isn’t there a college application guidance session tomorrow? Students who want to retake the exam can also get advice, right?”
Chloe nodded.
“Let’s go to school tomorrow.”
“Second Brother, do you think I should retake the exam?” Chloe didn’t want to retake it; it was pointless. She’d rather livestream and earn money. She could also enter the entertainment industry through Fourth Brother’s film company.
Noah’s tone was calm.“Chloe, even if you performed normally, you wouldn’t reach the first–tier university line. Don’t retake it. Choose a major you like.”
He’d decided to persuade Alice to retake the exam. He wouldn’t repeat his mistakes; without Chloe, Alice wouldn’t be wronged again.

Noah left. Chloe bit her lip, unsure of his words. Did he mean she was inferior to Alice? Even if she retook the
it wouldn’t be exam,
as meaningful Alice retaking it. Luke, feeling awkward, said to Chloe, “Chloe, don’t take Second Brother’s words to heart. He always favors Alice. It’ll pass.”
“Sixth Brother, I won’t. Second Brother has also been good to me. I’m grateful for what I have.” Chloe, appearing understanding, turned to the butler.“Is it time for Second Brother’s medicinal porridge? Though it’s not as good as Alice’s, I want ease his stomach pain.”
“It should be ready soon.”

Luke, seeing Chloe’s obedience, said, “It’s okay if you didn’t do well. Sixth Brother will take you to a bar to relax.”
“Okay, I’ll go change. Butler, please give Second Brother the porridge.” Chloe excitedly went upstairs.
She’d just changed when her phone rang. It was an unknown number; it had called a few days ago, but she’d missed it. She thought it was a wrong number but then it called again.
She answered cheerfully, “Hello?”
“Axang, it’s me.”
Chloe’s mind went blank. Her hand trembled.“Who is this?”
The voice was identical to her deceased father’s. He’d died in a car accident years ago while saving the Lu couple.
“Axang, this is complicated. But send me some money; I need it urgently.”

“Scammers are getting bolder, imitating my deceased father? Do I look that gullible?” She hung up.
But she couldn’t calm down. A storm raged inside her. Her father did call her Axang. She hadn’t heard that name in years.
She’d always had doubts. Her father was abusive and a gambler, beating her and her mother after losing money. Her mother had left; she’d had a difficult life. Then, her father died saving someone, and she was taken in by the Windhams. Something felt wrong. He wasn’t a good person; he wouldn’t have saved someone!
She hadn’t spoken up, fearing she’d lose her privileged life. She’d ignored the inconsistencies and accepted the Windham family’s kindness.
But the call had reignited her fears. What if her father was alive? What really happened in that accident? She couldn’t bear to think about it.
A knock came.“Chloe, are you taking that long to change?” It was Luke.“I’m ready.”
She blocked the number and deleted the call log, pretending nothing happened. It was a scam; her father was dead. She composed herself and left. Luke was impatient.“Girls are so troublesome.”
Alice, Jack, and Andrew Yates arrived at the bar; she recognized it instantly. This was where Chloe had humiliated her in her past life. What a coincidence.
Jack noticed her expression.“What’s wrong? Don’t like this bar? We can go somewhere else.”
“No, this bar is famous. It’s very popular.”
Andrew Yates added, “Yeah, it’s lively.”
Jack looked at Alice intently.“Sure?”
“With you here, what could go wrong?” She masked her disgust; this wasn’t her past life; she wouldn’t be a victim.
Jack watched her; sometimes, she seemed older than her age, a jarring incongruity. Was it just his imagination?
They entered. Alice wore a fox mask; it was a masquerade ball, just like her past life. She remembered Chloe and Garrett Yates being intimate here; Garrett Yates had pretended to confess to her to get back at Chloe. She’d been mocked and humiliated; Luke had defended Chloe, calling it a joke. She wanted to see what would happen this time. Music filled the hall. Garrett Yates, holding flowers, approached a girl wearing a rabbit mask–Chloe.

The readers' comments on the novel: Six Brothers Plea for Forgiveness (Alice)
This story is incomplete!!! You get us into the story then you leave us with a cliff hanger. Plus there's so many errors. It is obvious that English is second ( or 3rd) language. Author has mixed up names on several characters. Mixed up he/she , him/her. Made story too long by repetitive sentences. Made it look like the reader wasnt able to retain parts of the story by repeating certain aspects. I know authors do that but this author did it too often. This story lets you see what an eye for an eye would mean to some cultures. Needs MAJOR proof reading. Pro: great family drama. The one emotion you feel the most in this story is anger & discuss. There are a few funny (actually hilarious) parts in there. You want the good guy to win even though he may been at fault for something. You want justice for Alice and you want to see her independent from her brothers totally. I feel the author is on the right track but just needs to clean it up....
Except Alice's and Jack's names, all other names are mixed. And why there is LUKE'S FATHER instead of EATHEN...
I want yo ask that wht Alice's surname is keep on changing from Wolsh to Windham to Lu???? And Andrew to Garett? And Jane's name to Chloe as well...
