Alice watched the manager fawn over Chloe, his flattery blatant. In the past, she would have been furious, but now, she felt nothing. 

Chloe was also surprised by the manager’s excessive enthusiasm. Seeing Alice there initially annoyed her; after all, Alice was the true Lu heiress. Company people were always opportunistic. She hadn’t expected the manager to completely ignore Alice, likely due to Luke’s advance warning. Chloe accepted the flattery graciously.“I’m new here and still learning, I appreciate your guidance.” 

“Of course, Miss Alice. Your presence graces our branch. Let’s go to my office for tea.” Chloe was pleased with the manager’s sycophancy. She gave Alice a triumphant glance before. heading to the office.

The team lead, seeing her youth, sneered.“Such a young engineer? Did HR make a mistake?” Many experienced professionals had failed; could this young girl, who looked barely out of high school, possibly solve the firewall issue? 

Alice’s tone was calm.“Since you can’t do it, let’s see if I can.” 

She sat down at an empty desk and started testing the software. She recognized the team lead; i her past life, he’d testified for Chloe, claiming she’d solved the firewall issue. D work. Soon, Chloe and the manager emerged. The manager announced loudly, “Everyone, stop Miss Alice is here for a visit. We’re colleagues now,” 

Chloe smiled politely. “Hello, everyone. I’m new here, please be patient with me.” The employees were overly enthusiastic. The team lead stood up, fawning.“Of course, Miss Alice. We’re thrilled to have such a beautiful addition to our team.” 

Alice remained impassive, focused on her computer. 

A female colleague next to Alice sighed enviously. “It’s good to be the heiress. Not like us working. 

stiffs.” 

“Exactly! I heard she’s here to fix the firewall. She’s so young; she probably doesn’t know anything about computers.” 

Alice was unfazed. In her past life, when she’d come to fix the firewall, Chloe had followed, claiming to learn, but only hindering her progress. Chloe had stolen all the credit, and no one had spoken up for her. 

Soon, Chloe approached, her perfume heavy in the air. The team lead stood up excitedly. “Miss Alice, do you need anything?” 

Chloe glanced at Alice.I’m curious about the firewall issue. Is it still unresolved?” 

“We’re working on it. We hired a new engineer, and we hope to resolve it soon.” The team lead looked at Alice with disdain. “Hey, newbie, greet Miss Alice and explain your plan.” Alice looked up impassively.“I don’t have a plan.”

“Hey, what’s your attitude? Stand up!” 

Alice stood abruptly, her chair scraping back. The greasy team lead was startled.“You’re new here. Are you trying to get fired? She’s the heiress!” 

Alice sneered. “What makes her an heiress?” 

“If not her, then you?” 

Chloe intervened.“Let’s treat each other as colleagues. No need for conflict.” The team lead immediately flattered her. “Miss Alice is right.” 

Alice went to the restroom, wanting to avoid Chloe. Chloe stood at the door, smug.“I didn’t expect to see you here.” 

Alice ignored her. 

Chloe persisted.“Alice, don’t be angry. Sixth Brother asked me to supervise the firewall project. Second Brother knows about it too.” Alice’s sudden appearance could mean she regretted leaving and was trying to return. 

Alice shook her hands, splashing water onto Chloe’s dress. 

Chloe was furious. “What was that? Do you know how expensive this dress is?” Alice laughed.“Good. Hopefully, you won’t expose yourself. This dress is probably more than you’ll ever earn in your life.” 

Chloe felt humiliated, glaring at Alice’s back One day, she would crush Alice. Back at her desk, the team lead threw a stack of documents at Alice. “Newbie, finish this or you can’t leave!” 

Alice placed the documents aside and continued testing the software without comment. The team lead wanted to yell again, but Chloe appeared and diverted his attention. Alice’s colleague whispered, “The team lead is so attentive. Does he like Miss Alice?” “Miss Alice would never go for that loser. He abuses his power.” 

“Be careful, little girl. If there’s a company dinner, don’t drink.” 

Alice smiled.“I understand. Thanks for the warning.” She wouldn’t be attending any company dinners. 

At the end of the day, Chloe announced, “It’s my first day. I’d like to treat everyone to dinner.” 

Everyone agreed. Alice, having almost finished her tests, packed up to leave. 

Chloe said, “Take my car.” 

“No thanks. Have fun.” Alice left without a second glance. 

Chloe’s pride was hurt, but she pretended to be generous. “I know her. Her personality hasn’t changed.” 

The team lead chimed in, “She knows the heiress and doesn’t take advantage of it! No wonder she can’t find a job! I’ll teach her a lesson tomorrow!” 

Chloe smiled without replying. 

She and the team went 

to the restaurant, where Noah and Luke were waiting. 

“Second Brother, Sixth Brother, what are you doing here?”
