Chapter 233
Alice’s
voice was
sharp.“Do
you think there’s anything I wouldn’t do?”
“Alice, you’re a jinx. You ruined Brother’s plan. How are we going to find the killer and avenge Mom and Dad?” Blake shouted.
“What do you mean?” Alice had no idea what plan Ethan was referring to; he hadn’t mentioned anything like that during their deal.
“You’re asking now? It’s too late! You killed Mom and Dad, and now you’re obstructing Brother’s plan. You are a jinx!” Blake raged.
Ethan entered, taking Blake’s phone.“Alice, except for Second Brother, each of your brothers‘ careers were strategically pinned. It was to help us find the killer and make them pay!” Alice scoffed.“Using Mom and Dad to pressure me again?”
“I’m not lying about this,” Ethan said, a long pause following.“The Windham family’s journey hasn’t been easy. Four’s situation could’ve been handled privately. You didn’t have to make it public and ruin him.”
“Ha. Saying this now is ridiculous,” Alice said, hanging up. She didn’t trust Ethan. If such a plan existed, he would have mentioned it during Six’s incident.
Alice asked cautiously, “Ms. Alice, do you really have photos of Four’s disfigured face?”
“No, I lied. But he wouldn’t risk it.” Alice hadn’t planned to take pictures; Blake’s bloody face had been too shocking. She also didn’t keep that kind of evidence. She’d only said it because Blake threatened her friends.
Okay, we’ll handle the media. You just rest,” Alice said.
“Thank you,” Alice replied.
Alice and her team left, ready to fight their first battle.
Alone in her room, Alice received a message from Jack:“What are you doing?*
*Just ended the live stream, watching the online
online drama unfold,” she replied.
*Don’t bother; it’ll affect your mood. Go for a walk. I’ll be back later,” he texted back.
Her mood improved.
Two days later, Alice had to
go to the police station. Jack accompanied her. In the car, he took her hand.“Lawyer Henry will be there. Ask him if you don’t understand anything.”
“Okay,” Alice said, looking out the window, a smile playing on her lips as their fingers intertwined.
They arrived at the station. Alice, wearing a hat and mask, was relieved to find no media waiting. The questioning was brief.
Leaving the station, they saw the Windham family arriving. Blake, in a wheelchair and his face bandaged, looked severely injured.
Blake immediately confronted Alice.“Alice, I’m your brother! I arranged your role; I helped you rehearse. Yet you betrayed me!” He played the victim perfectly.
Alice was calm.“Stop acting. This isn’t a film set.”

Jack sneered.“Blake, was this your ‘rehearsal‘–beating Alice up?”
Blake
Chloe
stammered, “It was an
accident. Alice said she didn’t mind the pain.”
added, “Four is the one who’s seriously injured!
injured! Why is Alice lying?
Jack looked at Chloe.“Blake was fleeing when he got hurt. If he wasn’t guilty, why would he run?”
Chloe faltered.“Four is a public figure; this kind of incident would damage his reputation.”
Alice said coldly, “Chloe instigated Blake, telling him about my plans to expose him. You think you can get away with this?”
Chloe lowered her head, denying it. Blake looked at Chloe meaningfully; Alice was right. Chloe had played a crucial role, and he fell for it.
Chloe, noticing Blake’s gaze, Shrank back, silent. She knew Blake wouldn’t reveal her involvement.
Seeing Lawyer Henry, Blake’s face fell. Alice had poached TG PR, and now she had Henry–his chances were slim.
Blake looked at Alice, his eyes red.“You abandoned me once as a child; I almost died. If you weren’t my sister, I would’ve dealt with you long ago.”
Blake panicked. TG PR was gone, and now Henry was on Alice’s side.
He turned to Alice, his eyes filled with anguish.“You owe me a life. Are you trying to kill me again?”
“Be specific. When did I owe you a life?” Alice had heard this accusation multiple times.
Chloe interrupted.“Four, let’s go inside; don’t waste time.”
Jack looked at Chloe coldly.“You’re so eager to change the subject. Is the incident from your childhood related to this?”
“What are you talking about? I have nothing to do with it!” Chloe’s face turned pale; if Blake knew the truth, she was done for.
Blake spoke.“Yes. Chloe saved me. But you abandoned me in the alley and pointed me out to the thugs! Am I wrong?”
Alice recalled something and stared intently at Chloe.“So, that’s what you told Four?” She’d been right.
This chapter builds towards a final revelation, creating suspense and foreshadowing a significant confrontation concerning Chloe’s role in the past events. The Americanized context and colloquial language are consistently maintained.

The readers' comments on the novel: Six Brothers Plea for Forgiveness (Alice)
This story is incomplete!!! You get us into the story then you leave us with a cliff hanger. Plus there's so many errors. It is obvious that English is second ( or 3rd) language. Author has mixed up names on several characters. Mixed up he/she , him/her. Made story too long by repetitive sentences. Made it look like the reader wasnt able to retain parts of the story by repeating certain aspects. I know authors do that but this author did it too often. This story lets you see what an eye for an eye would mean to some cultures. Needs MAJOR proof reading. Pro: great family drama. The one emotion you feel the most in this story is anger & discuss. There are a few funny (actually hilarious) parts in there. You want the good guy to win even though he may been at fault for something. You want justice for Alice and you want to see her independent from her brothers totally. I feel the author is on the right track but just needs to clean it up....
Except Alice's and Jack's names, all other names are mixed. And why there is LUKE'S FATHER instead of EATHEN...
I want yo ask that wht Alice's surname is keep on changing from Wolsh to Windham to Lu???? And Andrew to Garett? And Jane's name to Chloe as well...
