Shredded Vows: The Billionaire’s Secret Heir novel Chapter 39

The moment the black Bentley drove off, Lydia appeared at the top of the stairs, a light jacket draped over her silk slip dress.

The fabric cascaded down her frame like liquid, perfectly accentuating her stunning curves. She had to go dress shopping today, so she couldn't look entirely disheveled.

"Mrs. Gray, breakfast is ready." Mrs. Gable offered a white lie. "Sir had an urgent matter at the office, so he had to leave early."

"Mm." She walked down the steps, radiating an ethereal, untouched elegance.

Mrs. Gable watched her from the living room, momentarily lost in thought. She was such a naturally beautiful and pure wife—why couldn't Gideon see her worth?

Out on the avenue, the autumn sycamore leaves had turned a brilliant yellow, painting the city in vibrant, breathtaking strokes.

The black Bentley cruised smoothly toward Gray Enterprises.

Sitting in the back seat, Gideon watched the cityscape blur past the window. His gaze drifted down to the flawlessly repaired bracelet on his wrist.

Even with his impossibly high standards, he had to admit the restoration was absolute perfection. Not a single trace of the fracture remained.

His long fingers lightly brushed against the metal. Thinking about how she had worked until 3 AM, skipping dinner just to finish it, a strange, suffocating tightness gripped his chest.

But how had she pulled off such an intricate restoration?

They had been married for five years, yet it felt like he didn't know the first thing about her...

Soon, however, the bracelet dragged his thoughts back to the past, plunging him into the agonizing depths of his darkest memory.

"I didn't! I swear I didn't push Xavier! It wasn't me! Gideon, you have to believe me, it wasn't me!"

The desperate, terrified cries of a young Lydia echoed relentlessly in his ears.

In the spacious backseat, Gideon squeezed his eyes shut. His fingers curled into a tight fist as a heavy boulder seemed to crush his chest.

His brother's death was an open, bleeding wound he could never heal.

Meanwhile, the news of Jeffrey's return was still dominating social media, ranking just behind Gideon's arrival.
