Nixon ignored him and looked away.
With that, the mood in the private room quickly shifted back to Frank’s endless chatter.
An hour later, the three of them left the café.
Sabrina drove herself home.
The moment she was out of sight, Frank instantly morphed back into the obedient little brother.
“Bro, honestly, running into Sabrina today was a total coincidence. I didn’t ask her to tag along on purpose.”
Nixon could tell right away the kid was lying, but he didn’t call him out on it. Given Frank’s injuries, he let it slide.
So this was Frank’s excuse for hanging out with a girl late at night instead of studying?
When Nixon stayed silent, Frank assumed he’d misunderstood and rushed to clarify.
“She’s just my desk mate, okay? Don’t get the wrong idea. I’m keeping my nose clean. Tons of girls chase after me, but I ignore them all. I promised I wouldn’t date before college.”
Nixon raised an eyebrow.
Where did this kid get all that confidence? Did he really think girls were lining up for him?
All Frank ever did was goof off, eat junk, and play games. His grades were a disaster—always flunking his exams. Take away the Chase family name, and what girl would look twice at him?
Of course, Nixon kept all that to himself. He knew his brother too well. Besides, it was obvious that girl had zero interest in Frank.
Instead, Nixon shot him a cold, pointed look.
His little brother wasn’t just hopelessly self-assured—he wasn’t exactly sharp, either.
“Senior year’s almost over,” Nixon said, his tone icy and unyielding. “From now on, you come straight home after school and hit the books. When you get into the top two hundred in the school rankings, I’ll reinstate your black card.”
