She Turned Her Grief Into Wings novel Chapter 36

It wasn't until the car had completely disappeared down the street that Mr. Winston collapsed onto the pavement, his face the color of ash.

"It's over. It's completely over."

Not just the project—his entire company was finished.

Inside the car—

Shera sat in the backseat, feeling utterly stifled. Caden was carefully inspecting her wound, his brow locked in a tight frown, radiating a violent anger he couldn't seem to suppress.

He pulled out the car's first-aid kit, rummaging through it until he found antiseptic and cotton swabs. "I'm going to clean it," he said in a low voice.

Seeing Shera practically pressed against the opposite door, his expression darkened further. "Am I going to eat you? Come closer."

How could she still be throwing a temper tantrum at a time like this?

Realizing his tone had been too harsh, he forcefully softened his voice. "Come here. Let me disinfect it. Scratches from nails are full of bacteria. What if it leaves a scar?"

Reluctantly, Shera edged closer.

The scratch stretched from the corner of her eye all the way to her earlobe, long and deep. It was obvious how much force the woman had used.

He couldn't even imagine what would have happened if that heavy hand had actually connected with Shera's face.

The more Caden thought about it, the more infuriated he became. Without looking away from Shera, he ordered Aiken, "Pull every single joint project we have with their company. Cut off all communication, freeze their credit lines, and don't approve another dime. And any firm doing business with Transoceanic International—Hayes Group will cut ties with them immediately."

He was furious.

Aiken was equally enraged and immediately agreed to carry out the orders.

Their elegant, beautiful Mrs. Hayes had been assaulted by that crazy woman.

The interior lights were bright. Caden soaked a cotton swab in antiseptic and dabbed it gently against her cheek. When he couldn't reach the edge near her ear, he leaned in closer, gently taking her chin to turn her face slightly to the left.

Then he switched to an ointment, applying it with extreme caution and precision.

Afraid it would sting, he leaned down and softly blew cool air over the wound.

They were incredibly close, his scent completely enveloping her.

Shera slowly raised her eyes, her gaze tracing the tight line of his jaw. His striking bone structure was beautifully highlighted under the car's ambient lighting.

His brows were furrowed, his deep, narrow eyes entirely focused on the scratch on her face, his lips pressed into a hard line.
