She Quit Her Family and Found Herself novel Chapter 95

Wade slammed his cup down again, but this time, it wasn't out of anger—it was pure, unadulterated thrill.

His eyes were practically glued to the newly placed white stone, burning with an intensity and excitement that surpassed even his first major tournament victory.

"Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant! How did I not see this move? It's genius!" His hand hovered shakily over the new stone, his voice trembling with disbelief. "It's alive! The board is alive!"

"What's alive?" Herbert sat down across from him, viewing the board from the Black perspective. He wasn't particularly passionate about Go, but having been taught by his father since childhood and growing up around it, he understood the mechanics perfectly.

Wade jabbed a frantic finger at the white stone. "Look at this setup! White was totally backed into a corner, completely dead in the water. Historically, in the actual match, the White player resigned right before this turn. But look at where this piece was just placed!"

Following his father's excited pointing, Herbert traced the layout step by step. It was true—prior to that single piece, White was staring down a guaranteed slaughter. With his own skill level, he never would have found a way out.

But with this single stone, White instantly carved out a lifeline. A confirmed dead-end game had just been spectacularly resurrected.

Even Herbert couldn't help but marvel at the sheer tactical brilliance of the move.

"Who? Who placed this stone?" Wade leaped out of his chair, spinning around as if expecting to find the mastermind hiding in the room. His eyes snapped to his son. "Herbert, was it you?"

He clearly remembered that before he left the house that morning, the board was still a dead game. Now, there was an extra piece.

Herbert shook his head. "It wasn't me. I don't have that kind of skill."

Wade knew his son well enough to know he was telling the truth. Herbert simply wasn't capable of a move like this.

But if not him, then who?

In this entire household, the two of them were the only ones who even understood the game.

Desperate for answers, Wade summoned one of the staff. "Did anyone come into the Lounge Room while I was out today?"

The employee thought for a moment and shook his head. "No, sir. You gave strict orders for us to stay away from the room, so none of us went inside. The only person who came in was Mrs. Jewell, just a moment ago."
