She Quit Her Family and Found Herself novel Chapter 45

Break Ms. Atherton's legs?

Dylan waved his hands frantically. "Of course not! Boss, this is Aldercy City, not the South Seas. We have to obey the law here..."

Caspian couldn't be bothered to listen to his assistant's nagging. He let out a dismissive scoff and continued walking into the facility.

With his long legs, one of Caspian's strides equaled two of anyone else's.

Dylan practically had to jog to keep up. Even at five foot eleven, he looked like a mere action figure next to his boss. He kept babbling the whole way.

"What I meant was, it's a rare chance to run into her! You two should have sat down, had a nice, calm chat, caught up, and cleared up whatever misunderstandings there are. Why did you just let her go like that?"

Caspian pulled off his sunglasses, a deep crease forming between his striking brows. "There's nothing for us to catch up on."

With that, the man picked up his pace, leaving Dylan in the dust. He stepped into the elevator and immediately hit the button to close the doors.

The metal panels slid shut, leaving a lagging Dylan stranded in the lobby.

"Boss, wait for me..." Dylan stared blankly at the ascending numbers above the elevator doors and shook his head. "My boss is perfect in every way, except for that stubborn mouth of his."

Upstairs in the ward, the room had returned to its usual quiet state after Hulda's departure.

When Caspian knocked and entered, Conrad was deep into a stack of research journals.

"Oh, it's you," Conrad said, setting the papers aside. "You missed her. She just left."

Caspian nodded, casually pulled up a chair, and sat down. "I saw her downstairs."

"Did you two talk?" Conrad asked, slightly surprised.

"Not about anything important." Caspian spun the expensive sunglasses between his long, elegant fingers. "She practically bolted the second she saw me."

Conrad's expression remained neutral, matching his indifferent tone. "Whatever happened between her and the Sterling family is none of my business."

With that, he leaned over, pulled open the nightstand drawer, and tossed the manila envelope containing the legal papers onto Caspian's lap. "Perfect timing. It's not convenient for me to show my face for this. You handle it."

Caspian glanced at the older man, then opened the envelope.

When his eyes landed on the words 'Divorce Agreement,' an eyebrow arched up.
