Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington) novel Chapter 1269

Jerome looked at Eartha with absolute disdain.

"Prep the OR. You're getting the surgery today."

Eartha finally turned her attention to him, letting out a mocking laugh.

"See? Was that so hard? I'll need a week in the hospital to recover. Once I'm stable, you arrange my flight out, and I'll arrange for the boy to come home."

She smirked, adding casually, "By the way, did Remington run back to Zion City? How cute. Does he actually think the most dangerous place is the safest? As if I'd be stupid enough to hide the kid in his own territory. Tell him to stop wasting his time. I expect him here tomorrow. If I don't see his face, your precious Joy is going to pay the price."

Jerome raised a cold eyebrow. "If the boy isn't in Zion City, why are you so desperate to have Remington here?"

Eartha shot him a look of pure contempt, as if he were an idiot.

"Believe what you want. But mark my words—you are never finding him."

Lizetta trembled slightly, swaying on her feet as if the emotional blows were finally breaking her.

Jerome shot Eartha one last dirty look before wrapping an arm around Lizetta and guiding her out of the room.

The second the door clicked shut behind them, Lizetta stepped smoothly out of Jerome's hold. She glanced back at the door, her eyes now gleaming with sharp, freezing calculation. The fragile, tearful act vanished without a trace.

A few hours later, Eartha was wheeled toward the operating room.

Right before passing through the double doors, paranoia spiked in her chest. She glared fiercely at Lizetta.

Eartha's face turned ashen. She forced her eyes shut.

But Lizetta wasn't done twisting the knife.

"You spent your whole life begging for your parents' approval. Look where that got you. They think you're a liability. An absolute disgrace. And Conrad? You really thought you stole him from my mother? I'm so sorry to burst your bubble. Just a few days ago, he showed up at my mother's grave, completely wasted, clutching a bouquet of roses. He cried all night, begging for her forgiveness. My grandpa permanently banned him from the cemetery, and it broke his heart. He's probably kneeling outside the Madden gates right now, sobbing like a dog. You failed at everything, Eartha. Even if you survive this surgery, what do you really have left?"

"Shut your mouth!"

Eartha's eyes snapped open, blazing with venomous hatred.

Lizetta just smiled, watching with grim satisfaction as the pale, trembling woman was swallowed by the operating room doors.
