“What do you think you're doing?”
“Open the gate. I work for the Dashiell family. Fiona Dashiell misses Mr. Ron and instructed me to pick him up so he can stay at the Dashiell estate for a few days.”
The maid looked utterly perplexed. She stalled, showing absolutely no intention of unlocking the gate.
Ray lost his patience. “Open it!”
With his naturally menacing demeanor, he delivered a violent kick to the iron gate. A deafening clang echoed through the air.
The maid flinched in terror and immediately sprinted back toward the main house without a word.
“What's the play here, Boss? Did you see her face when you mentioned Mr. Ron? She looked completely bewildered. Do you think something went wrong?”
One of the bodyguards stepped up behind Ray.
Ray took a step back and raised his hand.
“Smash it open.”
Following his order, the bodyguards immediately retrieved heavy tools from their vehicles.
Inside, the maid bolted into the mansion, screaming at the top of her lungs.
“Chairman West! There's a mob of men in black outside! They say they're from the Dashiell family and they're here to take the young master!”
On the spiral staircase, Martin West paused, having just emerged from his study.
Hearing the maid's panicked shouts, he scowled deeply.
“What young master? This is absurd! Go tell them the boy isn't here. The West family is not taking visitors today!”
Before the maid could even turn around, several thunderous crashes erupted from the front gate.
Another servant rushed in frantically. “Sir, it's a disaster! They broke down the gate and are charging in!”
Furious, Martin marched down the stairs. “Enough! What kind of sick joke is this? Didn't you people take Ron already? Ron is my grandson! He is a West! If I hadn't taken pity on Lizetta while she was comatose, I never would have allowed Stella to take him to the hospital in the first place! What is going on here? I haven't even demanded my grandson back from Remington, yet you have the sheer audacity to barge into my home asking for him!”
Martin's brow was deeply furrowed, his face radiating genuine anger and utter confusion.
Ray's pupils contracted sharply. “What are you talking about? Are you telling me Mr. Ron wasn't brought back here?”
Martin's scowl deepened. “Of course not! Hasn't he been at Oakridge Heights this entire time?”
Suddenly, his expression morphed into raw panic as he grabbed Ray by the collar.
“Where is Ron? Where is my grandson? What the hell do you mean? Is he missing?”
Martin fired off the questions, causing a heavy dread to settle in Ray's stomach.
“A few hours ago, I spoke with Winnie. She specifically told me that the West family sent a car to bring her and Ron back! Stop playing dumb, Martin! If you won't hand him over, we'll tear this place apart to find him.”

The readers' comments on the novel: Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington)
Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
