Rejected and Pregnant I Fled The Pack (Evelyn and Damon) novel Chapter 194

I found Evelyn in the living room, Willow napping and Ethan settled contentedly in his bouncer, and something in my chest eased entirely at the sight of them, understanding exactly how much I'd genuinely missed simply existing in this peaceful, ordinary domesticity these past several weeks of constant crisis.

"How's Miriam," Evelyn asked, looking up as I settled beside her.

"Better," I said, genuine relief evident in my voice. "And the council's formally approving permanent sanctuary status for her entire community this afternoon."

"That's wonderful," Evelyn said, genuine warmth evident in her expression. "After everything they've survived, they genuinely deserve that kind of stability and safety."

I nodded, pulling her closer, understanding the genuine significance of everything we'd accomplished throughout this exhausting journey.

"I've been thinking," I said quietly, watching Ethan continue his contented exploration of the small toys arranged in his bouncer. "About everything we've survived these past several months. Genevieve, my father's health crises, Nadia and Marcus, now this entire situation with Damian's forces."

"That's certainly been considerable," Evelyn said, something rueful entering her tired voice.

"I keep thinking about how much I've genuinely missed simply being present with you," I continued. "Not managing crisis, not coordinating security or diplomatic negotiations, just genuinely existing together, romancing you the way you actually deserve."

Something warm and surprised crossed her expression at that admission. "Damon—"

"I mean it," I said firmly, taking her hand gently. "Once everything genuinely settles—Miriam's community fully integrated, whatever remains with Damian's faction properly resolved, my father's continued recovery genuinely stabilized—I want to actually take you on proper dates, Evelyn. Genuine romance, rather than simply managing our shared responsibilities and constant crisis together."

Her eyes softened, something deeply moved evident in her tired expression. "I'd genuinely love that. It's been so long since we've had space to simply focus on each other, on our relationship rather than constant emergency management."

"I know," I said, genuine regret evident in my voice. "I want to actually change that going forward. You deserve someone who prioritizes your happiness and our genuine connection, not simply someone perpetually consumed by whatever crisis demands immediate attention."
