Rejected, Abused, I Fall for the Forbidden Alpha (by Riley Scott) novel Chapter 82

Chapter 82

Raven POV

“I’m exhausted, mother. Trying on all those dresses just took it out of me,” Marissa sighs, sitting on the chair in the bridal shop, putting a hand to her forehead and groaning dramatically.

If she was exhausted, I was doubly so. She’d been so demanding, so irritating, I’d had to bite the inside of my lip to prevent myself from losing my temper.

“Never mind, you can rest once you’re back at the pack. This was important,” her mother’s voice is dismissive.

Marissa pouts. “What difference is it going to make? It’s not like Hades will care anyway. I might as well be naked with the amount of interest he’s shown in the wedding, let alone me.”

Her tone is simmering with undisguised resentment. I try not to smirk, looking pointedly away as MaryAnne gives a heavy sigh.

That’s because he doesn’t like you, I thought silently, you’re just too stupid to realize it.

“Think of the photos that will be taken,” MaryAnne Sinclair soothed, “one day you’ll want to look back at them, and that’s when you’ll realize how important, looking beautiful on the day is.”

If that day ever happened, I thought to myself smugly. Marissa was still in the dark about my frequent sexcapades with Hades, but that was going to change. Soon enough, the truth would come to light, and her humiliation would be complete. It was just a matter of time until I got my sweet revenge and crushed her. But for now, my eyes fixed on MaryAnne Sinclair, simmering resentment rising inside of me as I fought to hold it back, my anger almost palpable. It was taking everything I had not to confront her, not to demand she give me answers.

The sweetness from my tone makes me want to gag. They fall for it, though, naive fools. After all, the only Raven they knew was the kindhearted, pushover Raven, not the new Raven who barely managed to control the rage coursing through her. They would get acquainted with the new side of me, though and soon.

Marissa grunts. “About time you became good for something,” she sniffs, raising her chin and looking down at me with a haughty expression on her face.

“Let’s not ruin the moment,” my mother said sharply, “this is a cause for celebration. You might not have won Hades over completely,” she looked slightly disappointedly at Marissa before her expression cleared, “but getting him to agree to a wedding ceremony so soon is a good reason to be optimistic. You’re one step closer to becoming Luna of the Blood Moon Pack.”

She sounds triumphant, her eyes glowing with satisfaction.

Naturally, Marissa cheered up instantly. “I can’t wait. I already have so many plans,” she breathed as her mother nodded, encouraging her, “for starters, that pack house has to go,” she said wrinkling her nose, “I simply cannot bear to be living in such a simple and ugly house,” she whinged, “it’s the most disgusting thing I’ve ever laid eyes on. Completely demeaning for a Luna to live there!”
