Chapter 52
Raven POV
The hunter lunged forward towards me. I sidestepped and used his momentum to shove him into the side of the car, causing him to make an oomph sound. He turned, a scowl on his face. “Bitch, you got lucky,” he sneered.
I raised a brow and waited. Sure enough, he stepped closer and threw out a punch. My head moved quickly to the side and I kicked, sending him staggering backwards. He let out a shout of anger and began to punch, over and over again. I continued to dodge, grabbing his arm and headbutting him. He groaned, grabbing at his head. I kneed him in the groin, and he fell to the floor clutching his privates.
I turn and run, heading for the trees, knowing I might need to gain some distance from the car in case more hunters were lurking about. At least the trees would offer some form of shelter from flying arrows. He staggers after me, stumbling along, breathing heavily. I can hear him behind me. Once I’ve found a small clearing, I turn around and face him again, eyeing him expectantly.
For a hunter, I would have expected far better than these abysmal fighting skills.
“Bitch,” he shouted, finally catching up.
“I told you not to underestimate me,” I said, breathing hard, “tell me what’s it like being beaten by a girl?”
My free hand moves. My fingers poke into his eyeball as he screams and tries to blindly get off of me. He’s vulnerable. I kick upwards, hard, and send him sprawling forward onto the ground. I get up. He’s turning over and beginning to move backwards, blinking furiously, now blind in one eye which is bleeding. I have no sympathy for him. He’s getting exactly what he deserves. How many innocent shifters had he killed in the name of his so-called beliefs? Too many, I thought with fury.
“Now what was that about being me?” I taunt, stepping closer as he cringes, “and having your fun with me? Tell me?” I cock my head, “just how many women or girls have you raped?”
My tone is dripping with venom; every word filled with hatred. There’s nothing I despise more than hunters. They were the vilest, most despicable beings on the planet. They deserved to be stamped out for everything they had done. I would not be merciful. I would not be kind. I would treat them exactly as they treated shifters, maybe even worse. I would give them exactly the type of punishment they loved to dish out.
He scrambles backwards. I shake my head and lunge forward, grabbing him by the throat as he stands back up weakly. I slam him against the trunk of a tree. He tries to get to his pocket, and I can feel the knife in there. I slam his head into the trunk and take the knife in one smooth move as he groans. I hold the knife up, putting it directly under his chin, my eyes flashing with undisguised anger.
