Rejected, Abused, I Fall for the Forbidden Alpha (by Riley Scott) novel Chapter 51

Chapter 51

Whatever. This was growing old. I snapped my jaws at him. He ran forward, knife stretched out in his hand. I lashed out with my paw, sending the knife flying and him toppling to the ground, unable to prevent the fall with only one arm. I kicked, shoving him facedown on the ground. He gave an oomph and tried to stand, I put my large foot on him, bearing my weight as he flailed beneath me. I pushed down harder. He gasped for air. I stomped and broke several bones in his back as he screamed. I did it again. My wolf was so angry now that he could barely contain himself. If he went feral, there would be no stopping him. He stomped on the man’s head at long last, breaking his skull and stopping his screams midway through. Silence. He was dead, but it was bittersweet. All I could think about was Raven now, even as I sensed Aeress’s gaze on me.

Aeress trots up to me, licking away some blood on her fur. Her eyes slide to the knife in my side, and she shifts, my eyes sliding away. The last thing I want to do is see my own sister naked. Jackson comes racing up. Aeress braces her arm against me.

“This is going to hurt,” she warned.

Just pull it already I growled using the mind-link to urge her. Stop hesitating and get it done already. I don’t have time for this. Just do it.

She yanks it out hard. I hiss. Shit that hurt. I feel the blood trickling down my body, matting my fur, and sigh. It could have been worse. I would heal, but it would take time. Fucking hunters.

Where’s Raven? Why isn’t she with you?

How could I have been so stupid? Just because Raven could fight didn’t mean I should have left her behind without ensuring protection of some kind, or I should have been more forceful and demanded that Aeress remain behind. Fuck. This was all my fault. I was an idiot.

She’ll be okay, Hades. Jackson tries to comfort me, racing alongside, Raven’s tough. She can take care of herself, he soothed.

She could be dead by now, I snapped, moving my paws faster, or worse.

I didn’t have to say the words outright, Jackson already knew where my thoughts were heading it wasn’t unheard of for a hunter to have forcible sex with his victims, especially if they were an anomaly They would use silver with stronger women shifters, rendering them helpless and then do the unimaginable before killing them. It was disgusting. They called us inhumane, but they were the real monsters Given Raven’s condition and her beauty, I had no doubts that if given the chance they would take her if she lost the fight. I couldn’t allow that to happen. I lowered my head, my emotions running rampant. If Raven got hurt, I would never be able to forgive myself. I kept running, hoping that I wasn’t too late.
