Chapter 46
Third Person POV
“Is it my imagination or does Raven look like…” Alpha Daxton is struggling to control his emotions, glancing helplessly up at a portrait of his wife on the wall.
Nostalgia shot through him. Raven was almost an identical copy of his wife from when they were
younger. Even her voice was somewhat similar to Grace’s.
“Looks like mother? I thought the same thing,” Damien mused, “from her hair colour to those big green
eyes, which are like emeralds. She even has soft waves in her hair.”
“Precisely,” Alpha Daxton agreed, his throat tightening, “she’s almost looks like Grace when she was younger. There are subtle differences, though, but she could almost be a clone. Do you think…” he trailed off.
Part of him wanted to hope, to consider the remote possibility that Raven might be his missing daugher but experience had taught him never to get his hopes up. It only hurt that much more when his dreams came to naught.
“That she’s my missing sister and your daughter?” Damien can’t quite suppress his excitement at the thought, “It bears thinking about. I tried to ask her about her parents but she said her father was dead and didn’t give much detail about her mother. She was very mysterious about her past,” he murmured,” almost as though she was trying to hide something.”
It only made Damien even more intrigued by her.
“MaryAnne Sinclair. Isn’t she the Luna of the River Moon Pack?” Damien frowned, trying to remember it all, “from memory, she’s blonde and looks nothing like my mother. How could they be sisters?”
“MaryAnne takes after her mother, and Grace, your mother, takes after her father. Grace was a year younger than MaryAnne when I met them. Her father was already dead, and so was their mother. I only saw photos of them.”
“What happened between you all? Why didn’t they speak to one another?”
What had caused this much bad blood between three people, three adults for that matter, that wasn’t easily fixed and had caused nothing but contempt and anger between two sisters?
His father looks troubled. He rubs his beard and avoids Damien’s eyes for a moment. Almost as though he’s ashamed of something he doesn’t want to admit to.
“I dated MaryAnne Sinclair before your mother,” he finally admitted in a low voice, “but I learned early on that she was malicious, manipulative, and controlling. When I met Grace, she was the exact opposite: kind, loving, generous, selfless. She was sweet. When I kissed her, I felt the mate bond and then there was no denying our love for one another. The day we marked each other, her sister went crazy, accusing me of cheating on her while we were still dating, and that Grace had stolen me from her. It was ugly. We left the pack and Grace moved in with me, but even when we had the wedding MaryAnne wouldn’t let up. She crashed it, blaming Grace for everything and warning that she would get her revenge. It took three men to drag her away and force her out,” he sighed, shaking his head, his eyes filled with disgust.
