Rejected, Abused, I Fall for the Forbidden Alpha (by Riley Scott) novel Chapter 32

Chapter 32

Raven POV

I showered and changed into comfortable pyjamas, my body practically singing. All I can think about is him, how his tongue felt, how sexy he had looked when he took charge, how strong he’d made me cum, over and over again. I could feel my cheeks blushing bright red as I hung up the towel and then padded into the bedroom, preparing to sleep in the small closet that was my room, even as the party continued.

I sensed a presence, and my head looked up sharply. Of course. I should have expected she would be here, arrogant enough to enter the bedroom while I was otherwise occupied. She’d never been one for manners. I force myself to still while she gives me a slow, considering smile. I knew that smile. I had seen that cold, vicious look in her eyes, too, always directed at me. I braced myself, knowing what was coming and making no move to stop her.

Slap. She hits me, sending me staggering back a step. I put a hand to my cheek and simply look at her.

As expected, she’d used violence to remind me of my place and to make me fear her.

“Do you think I didn’t see you at the party?” she glared, “or that you were dressed like a whore, trying to entice every single man there? What right do you have to try and show up your sister at her own engagement party?” she demanded.

Keep calm. Act like you always have with her. Don’t give her a reason to look too closely at you. Act as though your life depends on it.

“I sent you here to tend to Marissa’s every whim, not to spend time partying and looking for a good time. Even if you manage to draw a man’s attention, what good would it do you?” she hisses, “No one in their right mind would want somebody as weak and pathetic as you. An anomaly. An ugly girl who can’t compete with the likes of Marissa and the other beautiful women there. You’re fooling yourself if you think you’ll find anybody willing to overlook all of that and choose you.”

Her usual attack, went right to the heart of my fears. I straighten up slowly and look at her blankly For once, they don’t hurt as much as they used to.

“Don’t forget, I put that spell on you. It’s a shame,” she said consideringly, “that the pain that single word can bring can only be used in close proximity, but it does the job, doesn’t it, and reminds you of your place.”
