Rejected, Abused, I Fall for the Forbidden Alpha (by Riley Scott) novel Chapter 102

Chapter 102

Raven POV

“Out you come, Raven,” his voice is filled with glee, “maybe if you come out, I’ll make your death quick and swift. On the other hand, if you keep running…” he trailed off, the implication clear.

He would make my death slow and painful. I was under no illusions as to what he might do to me if he managed to find me. The loss of MaryAnne had made him irrational, filled with images of revenge, revenge against me. I was responsible for everything going wrong in his life.

“Why don’t you just shift already and do it!” I shouted back, still hobbling, my eyes desperately scanning the forest.

I was growing tired of his endless mocking, his endless games. I wanted all of this to be over, even though it might mean my own death. At the rate I was going, it wasn’t going to be much longer before my body simply gave out on me and that would be worse than trying to defend myself, because then I would be completely at his mercy.

I had somehow managed to walk miles. My body was shaking from exertion, and still I pressed on.

I had one chance. One fucking chance and even then, I would have to be extraordinarily lucky. I swallowed hard, my mouth parched. My stomach growled, reminding me of how hungry I was. I closed my eyes for a moment, silently counting to myself. I could hear him coming closer, not even bothering to hide how noisy he was. He thought he had me beat. Maybe he did but I sure as hell wasn’t going down without a fight. I was Raven, and I was nobody’s damn puppet.

“I can smell you,” he sang, “you’re almost mine, Raven. Maybe I’ll have my fun with you first, give you a taste of what my precious darling MaryAnne is probably experiencing. After this, I’ll find a way to save her, see if I don’t,” he growled at the end.

Dark Moon Pack was heavily guarded. I expected that was one of the reasons he hadn’t gone to save his precious MaryAnne yet, or maybe it was the thirst for revenge that had delayed him. Either way I didn’t care. I wanted to get this over with. One of us would die, and the odds were against me. I prayed for a miracle.
