Chapter 7 Beast Energy Conversion!

After Steven got home, he realized Brian had been waiting the entire time. His back was hunched as always, and there was clear worry in his eyes. Only after seeing Steven return did he finally relax.

Steven looked at Brian, who had already passed away in his previous life, and felt indescribably emotional.

He never thought he’d get the chance to see Brian again.

Brian always kept his back bent and liked to wear a stern expression.

But underneath it all, he was a warm–hearted old man who kept the house spotless and organized.

The moment he saw the blood covering Steven’s body, he hurriedly asked, “What happened to you? Why weren’t you answering your phone?”

Steven didn’t want him worrying. “I’m fine. Ran into a beast and got hurt a little. A military healer already treated me.”

“After school, come straight home. You almost worried me to death,” Brian scolded.

Steven smiled bitterly. “It won’t happen again, Grandpa. You should get some rest. It’s late.”

Brian stayed silent and simply brought out dinner for him.

“Eat, then go to sleep.”

Warmth rose in Steven’s chest. Brian might’ve been strict, but he truly cared about him. Brian’s hair was already completely white, and concern flickered through his cloudy old eyes.

“Be more careful from now on. Get home early. Even if something happens, at least let me know you’re safe.”

Steven smiled. “Got it, Grandpa. I’ll be careful.”

Brian stood up and returned to his room.

After finishing dinner, Steven washed up briefly.

Then he lay down on his bed and checked his injuries. Thankfully, the healer had clearly put real effort into treating him.

All that remained now was letting the wounds heal naturally.

Lying there, Steven thought back over everything that had happened today.

At least this brought him a little closer to Bianca. Hopefully, in the future, he’d be able to cling tightly to the future Ember Eternal’s support.

He just hoped she wouldn’t distance herself after awakening an SSS–rank Divine Sigil.

Steven let out a quiet sigh. Guess it wasn’t up to him.

Once her status kept rising in the future, would she even still remember him?

Unfortunately, he could only awaken a B–rank Divine Sigil. His future was limited.

He took out the beast crystal.

A beast crystal could still be exchanged for money, and the higher the beast’s level, the more valuable the core became. It was an extremely important resource.

It could also be traded for Divine Crystals.

Divine Crystals were used to evolve Divine Sigils. They were essentially the source of an Awakened’s power and one of humanity’s most important strategic resources.

Divine Crystals could only be mined from deep within the earth.

Beast crystals, meanwhile, couldn’t directly strengthen Divine Sigils. They had to undergo special processing before their energy became usable.

A level 1 beast crystal like this one wasn’t worth very much.

Steven held the beast crystal tightly while thinking about the future Battle of the Fallen Eternals.

The biggest issue was warning Bianca in the future that something was wrong with that Divine Saint.

As long as she stayed wary of him and avoided being ambushed, then Bianca wouldn’t be injured, and she wouldn’t have to die together with that level 10 beast.

A vicious glint flashed through Steven’s eyes.

“Damn bastard. How the hell does that monster deserve to be called Draconia’s hero?”

During one mission, that man had led his squad into battle against beasts, and every single one of his teammates died.

Only he returned alive, bringing back the mission target.

Draconia praised him endlessly, calling him a war hero and eventually promoting him to marshal.

But nobody expected that bastard would ambush the Ember Eternal at a moment like that!

This time, Steven was absolutely going to stop it.

The one thing Steven couldn’t understand was this. Why would a Nine–Sigil Divine Saint marshal, one of Draconia’s highest–ranking military leaders, betray humanity?

What the hell really happened?

He couldn’t figure it out.

Ever since the world changed 300 years ago, traitors among humanity had been incredibly

rare.

Every human hated beasts with irreconcilable fury. And yet that man betrayed them all!

Unfortunately, Steven’s status in his previous life had been too low. He never learned many of the world’s true secrets.

Exhaustion eventually pulled Steven into sleep.

In the darkness, the beast crystal clenched in his hand slowly began releasing a faint glow.

The pure energy inside the beast crystal unexpectedly flowed through Steven’s arm and into his body.

Until the beast crystal finally crumbled into dust.

Inside the dream, Steven abruptly opened his eyes.

“Oh, come on! This again?” Steven cursed loudly.

Those golden beast eyes appeared before him once more.

There were only eyes. He couldn’t see the beast’s face and had no idea what kind of creature it actually was.

Golden light streamed from those eyes and shone directly onto Steven’s body.

The searing pain felt like his mind was collapsing apart.

What’s this?

Beast energy conversion?

What beast energy is being converted?

Is it converting the power of those beast eyes?

Those eyes are the socalled Eye of Insight, and the process I’m going through now is transferring that power and ability into my own body?

Steven suddenly opened his eyes and sat upright in bed, breathing heavily.

Another dream?

Morning had already arrived.

But then he immediately realized something was wrong. His eyes could actually see tiny particles of dust floating through the air.

He could even make out the patterns on a mosquito’s body and clearly see the movement of its wings as they vibrated.

It was like everything had slowed down in his vision.

He turned toward the window, his gaze sharpening.

In an instant, his vision stretched impossibly far, allowing him to see things over a mile away.

His eyesight had improved!

And the change was incredibly obvious.

Those eyes from last night weren’t a dream.

His physical abilities had increased.

He reached toward his collar, but a cloud of powder nearly blew into his eyes.

Steven frowned. Why am I holding a handful of powder?

Then suddenly, his heart jolted.

“This is that beast crystal!!?”

An unbelievable thought flashed through his mind.

“I absorbed the beast crystal?”

Steven was utterly shocked as he pieced his thoughts together.

Or more accurately, the eyes in his dream absorbed the beast crystal.

Or maybe that so–called beast energy conversion transformed the beast crystal’s power. Steven couldn’t completely figure it out.

He quickly tore off his shirt and saw a tattoo–like mark over the center of his chest.

It was the shape of a beast.

The moment he saw that beast–shaped mark, Steven’s eyes widened.

CrimsonEyed Heavenfang!

The level 10 beast that died together with Bianca!

Those golden eyes belonged to CrimsonEyed Heavenfang?
