Chapter 398 The Wings Behind the Eyes
“Don’t think it’s impossible. You just have to work harder than everyone else.”
Everyone nodded.
Steven let out a quiet sigh. There didn’t seem to be any real solution to this.
Alan gave the order to stop the search for the day, find a safe place to rest, and continue tomorrow.
The sky was already growing dark.
It was October, so night came early.
They soon found a relatively safe spot.
“Vice Captain, hurry up and take it out. Let’s see how heavy it is.”
Everyone gathered around. That head–sized meteorite fragment was no joke.
Steven took it out.
The moment they saw it, everyone sucked in a breath.
“Damn… that’s at least 40 pounds. My god. Twenty million divine crystals.”
Peter grinned. “My luck’s insane.”
Steven weighed it with his battle armor. “More like 36 pounds.”
“What? That’s it?” Peter said, putting on a disappointed act.
Finished
Steven rolled his eyes. “That’s 18 million divine crystals. Ten times what Bianca and I got in a day. What more do you want? Go evolve already. Don’t waste time.”
Peter laughed and walked off.
Everyone chuckled and quickly began their evolution.
Steven also focused himself. Strength was the priority. It was only 7 p.m. He had about 11 hours until 6 a.m.
He had to evolve to level 22 first.
Beast Energy Conversion, activate!
About 60 miles west of Moonclear Lake.
Nebula Squad.
James was roaring in fury, his eyes bloodshot.

He tore through the surrounding forest in a rage.
The other 11 teammates didn’t dare to stop him.
“Alan, I’ll kill you, even if it’s the last thing I do!” James shouted toward the sky.
Then he turned to his team.
“We move at full speed. We reach the meteorite crash site by morning. I want Alan dead!”
The team abandoned rest and prepared to move immediately.
One of them said, “Captain, we can’t underestimate Alan…”
James shot him a furious look. “He killed my brother. You think I won’t take revenge?”
Finished
“I’m not scared, so what the hell are you scared of? He wasted all those years and went off to a trash city like Rowenville. I’ll kill him for sure. Time to settle every score between us!”
No one said anything else.
Conflict was inevitable.
Steven shut out everything else. What he needed most right now was strength.

Five Divine Generals and five Divine Knights, and they weren’t even top ten in Orroux.
That meant the top ten had to be terrifying.
And then there were the three squads ranked on the Awakened Squad Rankings.
Finishert
Steven could already guess. They were probably all Divine Generals, maybe one or two Divine Knights at most, and those would be on the verge of breaking through.
The gap was enormous. In his previous life, he had barely even crossed paths with teams like that.
He had to get stronger, no matter what. He couldn’t leave everything to Alan alone, facing that many Divine Generals.
If only he had more time.
Steven sank deeper into that space.
Twin crimson eyes loomed above, their bloodlike glow washing over his entire body, refining every inch of flesh.
The pain was overwhelming, driving him to the edge of madness. As his level increased, the pain only grew stronger, and he couldn’t get used to it.
Every night, he had to endure it.
Steven clenched his teeth and bore through it.
Meanwhile, behind those crimson eyes, a pair of massive wings began to take shape, their shadow stretching across the sky.
After 11 hours of torment, Steven finally stopped.
His entire body collapsed within the consciousness space, completely drained.
